Brad

Just been reading a few comments about brad. Someone saying he should have come of his line more on sat at ot. I was at OT and didnt think this at the time, i have watched the game since and i saw only 2 times where brad could maybe have come of his long. The rest of the time if he did he would have been charging 10-15 yards of his line , which we know from having gomes for 2-3 seasons isnt healthy to do. I think brad has probaly been our best player so far this season and although i think hugo will be will be our number 1 in time, at the moment changing it would be crazy. I think people need to judge brad and gallas for their performances and not on their age.

i also think...he was at least...part culpable for the late vs west brom....for the very same reason...

yup.

the west brom goal should never have happened as in the phase of play before, friedel should have dealt with the cross, cleared the ball and we would have had a corner not defending another corner.

that said i back AVB and his decision with persisting with him for now, while we are winning and he is making good saves.

I think Friedel although making some good saves, also needs to be coming of his line a bit more, and although goals conceeded can not always be put down to the goalie, he has not kept a clean sheet yet I don`t think this season.

Well said, I would like to add also that goalkeepers notoriously have a period of settling in to English football. You only have to look at the situation with De Gea to see what happens when you drop them in the deep end.

Brad is the prefect example of a premier league keeper and Lloris will no doubt learn volumes just watching him. Can't wait to see him in action though

Kagawa, Totally agree....delicate but I think Lloris will need to play a few games. If the French manager really wants to screw up our season he could drop Lloris for the next French international. If that happens all hell will break loose.

As Chronic said above, i noticed Brad did lack somewhat in his general comamnding of the 6 yard box, something that is part of his job. I watched other keepers come out, easily catch the ball(something we saw lloris do versus Lazio) & i realised not only does this point blank stop the opposition but it regains possession.

You mention we shouldnt judge because of age - something i definitely agree with. In fact, when i was claiming i expected more from our goalie, it was the age excuse given for why he doesn't do this anymore. Where, as i pointed out, we shouldn't make exeptions because of age - just as you claim we shouldnt judge because we know their age.

As i say, i haven't been a fan of Brad because of his failure to command the area immediately surrounding him, but i did backtrack, or more so eat some humble pie (rightly so) for his performance against Norwich & West Brom, where i gave him good credit for his performances on them occasions.

However, it does come to the point now where we need to say, regardless of how well Brad has done in our games so far, who is the best option?

I personally believe it is time we accepted Brad hasn't made any blunders, or done anything majorly wrong, but he isn't doing everything right, or everything he should. Because of his reluctance to move from his line, we often need to use another defender so close to the goal line - this isn't helping, as we are effectively a defensive player down.

As hard as it may be because he has been a good servant (in terms of attitude, effort), i believe it is time to give ourselves the best opportunity to keep the ball out the net, and that is (IMO) with Lloris.

sandro..............................That was my post you are referring to re Brad not coming off his line. He failed to do on two occasions in the United game & I also think he was at fault with Nani's goal.

If you remain static, two things occur. A) You leave a much better & bigger target for the attacker to go for & B) It is more difficult to get down to shots standing still than it is when you are moving.

I think Friedel has done exceptionally well but Lloris is a very experienced & top class international keeper.

It is in my opinion only difficult to settle in the PL if you are not greatly experienced, De Gea is a prime example & ask Arsenal fans how long their inexperienced keepers have taken to develop...........

I agree with what people are saying with regards to easing Lloris in, personally i thought maybe one or two games would be enough, we are talking about a guy who is the captain of France, having faced pretty much every international striker and team for that matter, has he struggled? No. The guy has played in the champions league against some of the best clubs in Europe, has he struggled? No he is regarded as one of the best in the world. We are not talking about De Gea who at best is a young prospect not a fully fledged international player, again with Gomes, he was good at one club, he was never classed as one of the best in the world.

Can you imagine if he drops Friedel straight away, Lloris comes in and makes a mistake and before you know it AVB gets slaughtered, puts his foot in his mouth and Spurs are in crisis

-----

Just checking that you do know that lloris is France captain, has abundance of champs league and international experience, and is widely considered to be one of the top keepers in Europe?

If he makes an error I am sure he won't cry about it, go into his shell, and spurs will be dropped into crisis
