Afternoon to all -
Just a quick "report" on how i thought the leeds game went:
Goalkeeper - Good Job - not much to do, however good distribution i thought
Defence - Again, this is frustrating to give away a penalty - having said that, i thought Warnock has been fantastic, full of energy and grit - not to much of a threat going forward, but i prefer full backs at the back - the clues in the name. Put simply - Mears is rubbish - he is very poor at the back, and going forward, although he gets there, im not sure he did put many meaningful crosses in that where threatening, alot where behind everyone. Mills looked a lot more assured and Knight commanded the box very well - again his lack of football skill really does show if the ball is played out from the back - funny how the centre halfs look better and the full backs when they have a decent footballer in front of them.....
Midfield - i thought, mavies and spearing where excellent. Spearing in particular, he's the only man in that midfield willing to put his foot on the ball and make an intelligent pass, rather than just clearing his lines. I thought mavies linked up well wit front lads, in particular SKD, and was nice to see balls into feet. Eagles was tireless and looked sharp and willing, very skilful palyer at this level - would like to see him up front you know, i think has something to offer as a striker. (better than sordell)
Andrews for me is a complete passenger, he doesn't give anything really, it was clear he was asked to play a more advanced role and make efforts to get into the box - he never quite got there, he also cant tackle, isn't quick and isn't intelligent. He has a lot to prove to me for him to keep his place
Forwards - SKD was fantastic. It still baffles me how some on articles previous to this are calling for him to be dropped. i see what there trying to get at, they think dropping him will stop hoofball. The first twenty minutes we passed it fantastically, Davo was a massive part of that, and he linked with midfield brilliantly. He worked his socks off, got 2 goals and was a fantastic leader.........again.
Afobe - Looks a good un this lad - full of pace, and unlucky not to score, compliments SKD and more significant than anything else, he offers something different, he makes defenders think. He has good movement, and worked hard i thought
Sordell - absolute passenger when he come on.....was this because coyle set the team up in the second half for hoofball tactics i dont know, but there where 2 occasions when he should have gambled on something and he was fast asleep
Coyle - Credit where credits due - i think he changed the system slightly against Leeds. It looked like a 4-1-3-2 to me, and it was working brilliantly. Spearing was good in front of the 4 - mavies wasnt too narrow as to not offer any width, but also not too wide to leave the midfield exposed, same as eagles ont tother side. My dissapointment came later on, first he brought petrov on for spearing, i agreed with bringing petrov on, but for Andrews, I would also never ever play petrov on the right, he has to be on the left. Sordell for Afobe - Sordell was a passenger, and Afobe looked dangerous, perhaps a forced change as afobe may of been getting tired.
Tactically he instructed the team to start playing it long and/or wide to get as many crosses into the box as possible, fair enough when ur trailing, but Mears hadn't put a decent ball in the box all game, and Andrews wasn't getting in the box enough to support the front 2. I personally would of encouraged, which is different to my normal stance, more football. Get the ball down more, we were ripping them apart when we played it on the floor
Opposition - Leeds arent all that great, without diouf they would have offered nothing, Diouf still a class player, would have him back here in a heartbeat!
Overall - at last, some encouraging signs, a bit more luck and we would have won that game. I have called for Coyles head, but there was something in that game - mostly the effort of the team thats making me think twice. im not completely swayed, but there was something there. The next game, as always, is very very important
Good to here your views on the above
Cheers lads COYWM!

Mathematically possible if six or seven results went our way, but I tell you if we are within 5 points of automatic promotion by full time on Saturday I will climb over into the Millwall home end, walk up to the biggest, hardest thug I can find, slap him in the face, tell him his old mum's a dirty trollop and unfurl a West Ham scarf.
Pass the word around - might sell a few more tickets.

Exiled - WB didn't say within 5 points.
We would have to win (obviously) = 14 points.
For this target not to be met, 2nd place would need 20 points. Only Brighton, Leicester and Cardiff can achieve 20 points this weekend!!!!!!

Ah ... in that case, scrub the bit about the West Ham scarf. I might get away with the rest of it, but a WHU scarf would be a particularly unpleasant way to commit suicide.

David Ngog at Liverpool:
mins per goal 202.83
Goals per 90 min 0.44
Its amazing what happens when you play to a players strengths. He had a good scoring record at Liverpool, but people will never notice it, because they see he was involved in 94 games and assume he's played 94 full games. He only started 41 games in his career for Liverpool, he scored 19 during his time there.

I'm not sure what your source is for that, but when I had a quick look those stats matched up to only one of his seasons at Liverpool, not his career.

I'd be surprised if his overall scoring record for them was anywhere close to nearly one goal in two games (taken just as minutes played).

Thought you were being brave to put your life on the line for those three teams to save you!!!!!

It maybe me assuming automatic promotion places CEF. Anything but 3 points at millwall would be grim and we should look to get someone in over international break to sort this out.

Agreed, but will it be enough for PG and ED to actually make the decision they are so reluctant to make.
It's safe to say that if we win, then OC is going nowhere for a while.
If we lose, then maybe that will be enough for them to revise their target.
The draw is probably the worst result. My gut feel is that a draw would give OC at least one more game.

I was using a different source...maybe one was stolen from another.
But if we assume he played 90 minutes per every start, and scored 19 goals, thats a goal every 194 minutes.
If we assume he played 30 minutes in every sub appearance. (Extremely generous amount of time, will be less than this) Thats 4980 minutes altogether...roughly a goal every 3 games during his time at Liverpool. (265mpg).
That is his record at an absolute worst. It will be better than that if i had the whole range to utilise to get an exact figure.

I would guestimate that his actual record for Liverpool was 1 goal every 2.5 games. When using the actual minutes played, rather than how many games he featured in.

Thought Afobe was word than poor. Don't remember one time where KD and him manage to pass to each other or collect any flick ons/knock downs. Mainly because there weren't any.
Thought Mills was awful too. Even Zat Knight managed to move the ball about in the first half. Mills just hoofs it. He is very poor.
Felt sorry for Mavies and Andrews. Good players and always available to defenders to drop the ball into but they don't. The midfield gets completely bypassed, hence fans thinking that Mavies isn't involved enough - it's because the ball is always 4 foot over his head.
Spearing had his worse game in a BWFC shirt. Not saying he's a bad player, but he lost the ball in dangerous situations especially 2nd half.
Thought Sordell was quite good when he came on. Gt the ball to feet and moved it on quickly, notably linking with Petrov down the left.
So I pretty much disagree with everything in the OP. Sorry Clegg!

really dont mind you disagreeing, but all your opinions no matter how strong or valid are now null and void from one little belief you have.....Andrews is a good player......in what life form is he a good player he offers absolutely nothing.
