I see the two "veteran" signings as a good thing!
Surely this means that Steve has taken a look at some of the younger players and decided that they will be the backbone of the team within the near future. A couple of experienced role models with a wealth of knowledge about the footballing world can help bridge the gap and and provide the youngsters with role models that have been in the situations before.
I look forward to seeing the likes of Lascelles and Freeman pushing the old boys out but for now I am glad to have them!

Greening is a very good signing. His experience will be valuable whilst at the same time, he isn't past it. I think he will be a massive step up in quality over the out going McKenna. I fully expect our ball retention and pass completion ratio to soar now that McKenna has effectively been replaced with Greening.
Boetang has had a good career but I'm less sure that he will contribute as much. Still time will tell, and I'll be delighted if he can provide some quality.

Let's hope we don't have another Andy Cole/Neil Lennon situation. Role models are great, but they have to have an impact on the pitch with the ball too, otherwise we might as well just employ these players as coaches.

Agreed McFlorist. It's for that reason I have a few doubts about Boetang. I think Greening still have years in the tank though.
