Best winning run in 19 years....

.....and two more to equal the record..

Didn't think we'd be contemplating this a couple of weeks ago!

I think the key word could well have been 'context', KTF, if that word had been used. In the context of the last few years, five wins in a row is certainly very pleasing. Well done Uncle Grumps, and keep it up.

In the context of nineteen years (say, 720 league games?), it ain't so very grand. Is all I'm saying.

Absolutely John.

For any stat lovers out there, the last time we did manage 7 wins on the bounce, we scored 3 in SIX consecutive games which is probably a record as well.

For those looking at our perfect home form, wondering about records; we'd have to go until the start of February winning every home game to beat the 1906 stat of 13 home wins on the bounce!

When I reference 'context' Malling, I mean in the abstract term of our conversation, not in terms of article content - I didn't mean literally look for the word 'context' in the thread as the 'key word'; it was an idiom.

I think the literal context of the article is pretty self-explanatory to be honest.

Highlighting the uniqueness of the run over the last 19 years for Leicester City and many other teams just makes it even more 'grand' - if teams were surpassing this sort of run on a regular basis, it wouldn't be as impressive but rather the 'norm'; ultimately this is what I meant by reflecting on it in context.

Then I think we are agreed, KTF, that in the context of our dismal performance in this league over the last few seasons, the present run is very good.

In the context of nineteen years of effort, it does not strike me personally as a "best ever" to congratulate ourselves upon very much.

I'm loving it. But get off Mallings back anyone who knows anything about football will understand what he meant.
Its depressing for us who have been supporting are team over the last 19 years that we have not been able to get the consistency over that time to achieve this run until our last two managers.

Its got nothing to do about the almighty Pearson or being negative or not going to matches. I guess Malling has seen a lot mediocre football supporting his club.

I have no problem understanding anything Malling said. I just don't agree with it.

I think that would only make sense to a child.
