Liverpool produced a poor performance on Sunday afternoon against Stoke City in the Premier League and were left frustrated as they were held to a goalless draw.
Liverpool calmly stuck to their passing game throughout and looked for ways through a stubborn Stoke defence, but the Potters held firm, although they were very lucky not to go down to 10 men early in the game.
Robert Huth made a challenge on Luis Suarez and, with the Uruguayan on the ground, sneakily stamped on his chest. He was later fortunate to get away with another challenge on the Liverpool striker before he was finally booked midway through the half.
Liverpool had a couple of chances throughout the game, most notably through Glen Johnson, along with other efforts that struck the outside of the post from Suarez and Raheem Sterling. And Martin Skrtel was unlucky to see his clipped effort come off the post right at the very end.
As the game wore on, Stoke made their intentions clear as they packed their own half while Liverpool tried to find a way through. Joe Cole made his return from injury midway through the second half, coming on in place of the lively Suso. But neither he nor fellow substitute Oussama Assaidi, on for Nuri Sahin, could help their side get the three points, and the game fizzled out to a draw.

They built a cheap squad after getting promoted and instead of being a club who go up and down, like many other teams that get promoted, they have consolidated by using a style of play which some better teams struggle with.
They have had a net spend of £10m a year, which is fairly low, considering they started way behind other clubs in terms of squad quality when they got promoted.

I'm not trying to excuse any of their illegal behaviour, I'm saying what I'm actually saying and that is that I respect how Stoke go about their business.

Chelsea did struggle against Stoke. The only difference is they found a breakthrough with five minutes to go.

It is cheap, it's £10m a season after buying a whole new squad.

I don't respect illegal behaviour. I didn't say that, once again, I actually said what I said. Seems you're busy trying to find hidden meanings rather than just taking it as it is. I don't respect illegal behaviour but I do respect how Stoke have consolidated themselves, having build a cheap squad and used a style of play which some better teams struggle against. it's really not difficult. Just read, without scratching your head thinking about the hidden meaning.

Whether something is cheap or not, is about whether you consider it cheap. A whole new squad that consolidates you in the Premier League for five years for £10m a year is cheap, whether others have or haven't spent.
