Deeply worrying

Ok, so Black isn't up to the job. I'll hold my hands up and admit we need a proper manager. Poor formation, truly baffling midfield and a lack of tactics were all in evidence on saturday.

However, on the basis of that performance, the problems are far deeper.

It has long been my opinion that we have good players, that we went down because of kean's tactics and that we were being held back in this division because of them. I expected a passionate performance, lifted by an additional 3000 fans and liberated by the resignation...but we didn't get it.

Orr was poor, ollson only occasionally interested, lowe pedestrian and Formica was nowhere to be seen. Dann was as usual uninspiring, and if the rumours are to be believed, Givet hates being on the same pitch as Bradley Orr.

And then we come to Danny Murphy.

We are paying the guy £25,000 a week to shuffle round the pitch, passing the ball sideways (when not giving it away) bark orders at no-one in particular and give the general opinion that its the last place he wants to be. What can he offer that dunn can't?

He looks to me like he's shouting because he's frustrated that he's finished, and because he's trying to convince people that he cares. It says everything that is wrong about what's going on that he's the captain and plays 90 minutes. What must that be doing for the morale of the rest of the squad?

As far as I could see, the only tactic on saturday, regardless of where you were on the pitch was: give it to Murphy. He then duly gave it back to Wolves.

Regarding heart and passion, two things really annoyed me:

1. in injury time, nunes was taking a throw, and no-one even came near him, until the crowd demanded it

2. in the same period, when wolves were breaking, Rovers stood around watching it whilst the only non-wolves player making an effort to get back was the referee!!!

New manager needed asap, first step, instil some passion, second step, bin Danny Murphy.

Gonna have to get a move on with manager hunt now Coyle has been sacked

And the choice now includes Coyle!

11 days to get a manager before we play again. Ample time if you’re a well-run club who knows what they’re doing, not us though. I’d put money on Black being in the dugout at Derby

Usually, Bolton losing their manager wouldn't concern me, but at this point they look the better option for someone looking.

Yes they are in debt, are lower than us in the league, and their squad doesn't look as strong, but there will be no flights to India, accepting Shebby's signings or dealing with absentee owners.

If we both went for the same man, i wouldn't be confident of him choosing us over them.

Exactly. Venkys inability to do anything in a timely and efficient manner looks like costing us. Bolton have a bigger fanbase, better owners, and will be looking through exactly the same pool of managers as we are. The circus clowns have ****** up again.

B&WH, I wouldn't give them the credit of having a bigger fanbase - the town is bigger admittedly, but look at long term attendances.

Let's not do ourselves down too much!! venkys are more than capable...

Can't find any stats on long term attendances. There used to be a good site for it but it seems to have shut down. Pretty sure they've been about the same as ours overall in the last decade, but we've been charging about 60% of their price. If both fans had to pay the same, I think they'd be getting bigger crowds.

Plus ya look at the metropolitan area of Bolton, its about twice the size of Blackburn and Darwen. So they probably have a lot more fairweather fans who don't go to games but contribute to merchandise, sponsorship revenue etc. Post Jack Walker, they're a slightly bigger club in my opinion.

It would seem the honey moon period was very short lived after Kean went, it was nice to have a few days of 'ahh things are good and will get better' day dreaming, but as we all knew it would not last forever. The football (if you can call it that) the other day was awful.

I don't think we'll have to worry about that one.

Eddie Davies or the Venkys???

No brainer!!!
