Please tell me that someone else has noticed this about Nani.
His shooting is Awful. I dont care how many times he is through on goal and does a little dinked finish, he is an awful finisher.
It really came to light when i was watching him pre Wigan game in the warm up. Scholes was banging them in top corner. Hernandez was doing his silly side footed shots in the corner, but Nani was scuffing each shoot, sending it bobbling wide!
I remember a handful of his goals scorching into the top corner, but it is so inconsistant!
I think its time we got rid of Nani and brought in someone a lot more consistant. He will never reach Ronaldo's peak.. but then again... who will?
Also... im starting to worry about hernandez... maybe he is just lacking confidence at the moment!?

At moments like these I imagine being a supporter of Doncaster or Bristol Rovers and looking longingly at United fans and wishing they had our problems.
Nani or Valencia? How bout none at all?!
It's like arguing over M+S and Waitrose while people starve in Africa.

I think this move towards the diamond formation could be bad news for both of them. Although Valencia can of course play centrally and SAF has also been playing him at RB, so it is perhaps more dangerous to Nani.

Seeing as there is no single branch of either strore in Afrca ( the M&S store in Libya was shut), and people in the UK are 'starving'; maybe a bit closer to home

i'd tend to disagree elvis, nani can play the central role well, as he has shown for portugal.
also his first touch and link up play is better than valencias.

Exactly, Nani could quite easily play as any of the most forward 3 positions in the diamond with his quick feet and short passing

Yes Nani has played centrally for Portugal. Unfortunately for Nani, Paulo Bento doesn't pick the United team - that job is down to SAF. And so far, SAF has never deployed Nani in a central position. Valencia on the other hand has played in the middle for United as well as at RB spot. So I would say that a move away from traditional wingers is more threatening to Nani than Valencia.

Ha, too true.
Nani can be a great player on his day. Would love to see him remain in the Prem and get back to form.
On this season, I remember hearing Nani transfer rumours around the start of the season and didn't SAF write something in his program notes which was linked to Nani, something about players not loving the club and therefore being dispensible?
Maybe all of this along with his agent has disrupted his focus?

Possibly. I'm not investing a whole lot of hope in Nani having any kind of future with us until he signs that contract and can understand why Sir Alex may seem reticent to play him in every game because maybe he wants to send a message that not signing a contract shows that he's not 100% committed to the club.

I think that the story that Valencia crosses without looking up is somewhat exaggerated
-----------
It really isn't. At times I ask myself if the bloke even has a brain. He's a fantastic asset and I would never envisage him not being at this club for the forseeable future. But, he can be wasteful and very often breaks down the speed of our attacks by dallying on the ball, only to pass back to Rafael and start all over again. I'm aware this can be deemed a harsh assessment, but I think we are guilty of being over critical of our wingers due how good they have actually shown they are. I include Young in this, also.
Young is more frustrating than the other two, for that matter. What happened to the guy at Villa who would race past his full back and whip a ball in? He just hasn't done this enough. He has scored some nice goals and had some decent games, but for the price tag I expected more from his first season. He was by no means poor, and I know it was his first season. However, when he returns I'm expecting some big performances from him because we may need them. Nani, while good against Spurs is out of favour, and Valencia just hasn't been at the races at all.
I actually blame the manager for our lack of cohesion but that subject has died a death and don't wish to go on further. But, given how good the three of them are, I think people should cut our wingers a bit of slack and see how the season progresses instead of dissecting futile points about finishing and wasting crosses. They have proven creative output and can hopefully repeat this.
