Gallas i think has probaly been our best player this season. Hes our only leader with dawson and parker not playing. His reading of the game is top class and his organisation of our defence is much needed. I think caulker will learn alot playing alongside gallas. His perfomance at OT was one of the best i have seen form a CB for a long time. Even in the opening 3-4 games he was good, although some experts on here were calling for his head, hope he has won a few of you over now

yeah gallas hasnt been a moment trouble for us, was doing my head when the experts on here were useing him and brad as the scapegoats for any goal we conceded even if they had nothing to with it.

agree he has been very good but Vertongen is up there too for best player so far in the league

yeah verts has improved alot, he struggled against west brom and gallas got the blame, but he has been very impressive of late

personally i think vert looks like a deep midfielder.
i think he could make some heroic defensive contributions from there, whereas in the long run i can see him being something of an open door at either left back or centre back.

i think against top top wingers he will struggle at lb but i think he could be a top top cb for us,

i think he's struggled defensively at lb against everyone so far.
i dont think he was much better at cb personally. he made that one hollywood tackle which was superb, but he just gets bypassed by the attacking side far too frequently imo. hope im wrong and that he has a stormer every game, but i just cant see it at the moment.

Defensively verts can improve a lot. I have no qualms with him going forward. He has looked very dangerous

Gallas has been good, the only thing that bothers me is his tendency to get too tight to the striker when the ball is delivered - he walks a fine line.
It's true he's the only real experienced head out there at the moment.. we've got to wrap him up in cotton wool till Kaboul is back.

I have been a big critic of Gallas but fair play to him this season so far he has done well.
Despite his good performance against utd tho I suggest you take the game situation into account.
We were pressed back and we needed to defend the edge of our box which Gallas with his experience should and did do well.
The problems will come when we have teams pushed back and they break on us then his lack of pace will be the problem. He does also get to tight at times (chelsea semi last season for instance) then when a player spins him he is left for dead.
Again thats all about lack of pace and thats where he will get caught out exactly the same way as Terry does at chelea
