We all know Arsene has quite the eye for the bargain, but just for a laugh and to see how long ( or in some cases short ) our memories are let's see your side made up of Wengers worst buys. Ability/Team Suitability wise only. Sell on fee not an issue.
GK: Richard Wright
LB: Silvestre
CB: Tavlaridis
CB: Stepanovs
RB: Svard
LM: Alberto Mendez
CM: Inamoto
CM: Stefan Malz
RM: Jermaine Pennant
ST: Kaba Diawara
ST: Jeffers
Subs - Shabaan, Aliadiere and as a lesson to all young players, let's have Bentley there too.

Although given the nature of this team, does being a sub for this side mean you're marginally too good for it?
I've confused myself.

Cygan has gotta be worth a shout. And for what it's worth, I don't think Inamoto was that bad really. Maybe not top level Premiership class, but a decent player all the same...

Cygan is a must for me, that guy was the worst defender I've ever seen.
Aliadiere should probably start too, he was shocking.

Can't say Pennant was a bad player just had a very poor attitude. Silvestre was just past it,he was OK for Man Utd for years. Jeffers for me is the stand out worst buy

Cannot believe the OPs team. So many are just young kids who Arsenal took a bit of a punt on for little cost. Seba Svard for example. Really??
Try:
R. Wright
O. Luzhney
P.Cygan
I.Stepanovs
N. Vivas (or possibly Silvestre)
L. Diarra
Denilson
van Bronckhorst
T.Danilevicius (or possibly Chu Young Park, or Chamakh)
F. Jeffers
K. Diawara

ps, including Shaaban in the bench is the same as including Eduardo.

I would suggest that including Shabaan is nothing like ncluding Eduardo. Yes both had bad injuries, but post Arsenal Shabaan couldn't even hold onto the gloves at West Ham or Brighton.
Eduardo has gone on to remain in the champions league.
As to the point about them being kids - they were signings that didn't work ut and when you look at most of their post Arsenal careers I would suggest a case could be made that they were poor signings.
By the way, Svard might have only been 17 when he joined, but we had him until he was 23 and let's be honest he was poor.

You said sell on fee was not an issue so I don't see why after Arsenal career should be an issue either. We are talking about Wengers worst buys aren't we?
If Svard cost a few million you may have a point, but he was a kid with potential who didn't make it.
Plus Svard won the Danish league and cup double while he was an Arsenal player, so if you want to include post Arsenal career lets include this as well.
Hardly a worst buy of Wengers career, especially when you consider the amount of awful defenders we have had.

Their post Arsenal career is relevant because if you look at the standard the players settled at compared the standard expected at Arsenal ( or indeed any top 4 PL club ) you can see sometimes just how wide of the mark Wenger's judgement was in thinking they were Arsenal quality.
That's different from sell on fee, because soemtimes a player will be bought not work out, but be sold for a profit. So in business terms you could say it's not a bad buy, but I was talking purely in terms of abaility and integration into the team.
