Malouda to leave in January

It must be quiet if even this is making news but Florent Malouda is expected to be leaving us in January.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4591403/Florent-Malouda-set-to-leave-Chelsea-for-Santos-in-January.html

Thing is, looking through the comments there seems to be a belief we've treated Malouda badly. How exactly?

RDM was honest with him in the summer that he wasn't part of his first team plans and he had the chance to leave but chose not to.

Maybe its because he's been training with the under-21's, creating a false impression he's been sent to train with the youth team. But this year the Reserve league has been restructured to an under-21 league, so he's actually training with what would have been the reserves which I wouldn't regard as out of the ordinary.

Anyway, what will people's main memories of Malouda be? Things I'll remember:
- goal against Arsenal in FA cup semi.
- goal he should of had in FA Cup final (bring in goal line technology I say)
- goal against Wolves
- his 'band' with Didier Drogba

He was instrumental during that purple patch we enjoyed under Carlo where we were hitting 6, 7, 8 and even 9 goals every week at one point. I think it was right at the under of one season and the form continued in to the beginning of the next. I think we put 9 past Sunderland (9-2 perhaps) and Malouda had a great game. I was watching from my balcony at the Hotel Pestana in Porto Santo, lovely.

---

We never scored 9. We got 5 a couple of times, 6 once, 7 three times and 8 on the final day

Hey, you leave my fond memories alone!

I have to admit that Malouda´s recent behaviour has soured any good memories I had of him.

The club obviously made it very clear to Malouda in the summer that he wasn´t part of their plans anymore and that he would no longer be playing.

Instead of graciously moving on Malouda looked for the sympathy vote by posting a photo on Twitter showing that he was going to have to train with the Under 21´s for the rest of the season.

Big shame really and he only has himself to blame for his Chelsea career ending like this.

Raping Hibbert in the FA Cup Final. To savage for young eyes

His assists were better than his goals, which made it so frustrating when he turned into the greed monger he is today.

Best Malouda moment- the run before Joe cole's backheel at OT or the cross for Didier to score in the FA cup final

His performances from Guus 09 to the end of the 2010-2011 season was worth noting, was one of our better players through that time.

On an unrelated note, if you look at comments you'll see whatnext (under another new name) is still as obsessed with us as ever.
So we must be doing something right.

His performance against West Ham in 2010 was easily the best individual performance I've seen from any player post-Bates era. Easily comparable to any Drogba performance against Arsenal anyway.

It's a shame he got so lazy. Seems a waste of talent although his best position probably isn't out wide to be fair.

His performances under Hiddink and Ancelotti's first season. Tearing Alves apart, tearing Hibbert apart in the FA cup and chipping in with goals left, right and centre.

I don't know what went wrong with him, but he lost it big time. If it was only laziness then that's a tragic waste of his talent.
