Just watching Portugal game and watching nani play has not changed my mind about him. He is still rubbish. Sorry to say it but he can't do anything well.

comment by UnitedRedMacca- Even the TERMS Clevshinson or Cleverson sound better than Scholrick and don't get me started on Carrickholes (U2024)

Nani was superb the season before last picking up the player of the season award. Last season started well and then he started getting niggle after niggle and as a result he struggled for full fitness/shaprness for much of the season
The guy is a fantastic winger who is suffering a form dip. Nothing more.
Typical idiots getting on the guys back just because he isn't playing at his best at the moment
Bet you were one of the 'fans' who were slagging Carrick off a couple a years ago
-----------------------------------------------------
Even so, he has been average for the majority of his time at United. That doesn't mean I don't think that he is a good winger. But he hasn't been amazing during his time at United and I find it hard to fathom why he commands such loyalty from some fans. Yes he is a good player - a great player on his day. But he takes 1 step forwards, and then 2 steps back. His game hasn't really developed that much since he joined United and he has little concept of what it is to be a team player. If he had any kind of footballing brain to go with his natural talent then he would probably be the best winger in the world.
As for getting on his back for not playing well at the moment, we are talking about why he isn't in the team at the moment. Is his current form not a pertinent point?

. But the case of Nani is different as he has proven himself on a multitude of occasions and consistently delivered both goals and assists.

Totally disagree. Even in his 2 good seasons he has had spells of 10-15 games were his form has been rotten.

I really don't know what people expect these days.

on here....
A team of Galacticos who win the CL and the PL each and every season, cheap TV subscriptions and /or free streaming of games and/or match tickets that cost no more than £15.

Not me. I just expect players to do what is right for the team.

Just a quick one, out of Giggs' 20 years at the club, how many do you think haven't consisted of 10-15 poor games? Not very many. Giggs has been a wonderful player throughout the years, but even he had some rotten games in that time and in actuality, some poor seasons. Wingers will have poor games. This is the nature of the position. Look at Bale, he's been average for well over a year now and he is lauded. This is because good wingers are devastating on their day which is why they play in such a position. Nani's statistics back up his consistency over the past few seasons and I feel he is chastised for his capability of apparently having this high level when in actuality, he's simply not goof enough to reach that level. Instead, he's just a very good player and his previous performances suggest this. I'm not fickle enough to allow an injury hit 2012 to make me forget this.

10-15 games on the trot where he has been mainly poor? Not many.
I'm not talking about 10-15 games over the course of the season - I am talking about a poor spell of form that lasts for 10-15 games.

You excuse Nani saying that he cant be better than he is as he doesnt have that capacity. My view is that if he learnt to be less selfish he would improve by about 30%. He gets in many excellent positions and then wastes possession.

Between 1999-2005 I can well imagine Giggs had quite a few of those. I can't remember specifically when as we're talking 10 years ago but in this day and age players are scrutinized a lot more often and this is why you see too many players both praised and criticised so quickly. All players have bad spells. They're not robots. To be honest, I don't see where this is going right now and we'll have to see what happens come January. But like I said, if he is to leave it won't be because of his on pitch performances, but instead due to a contractual dispute or a falling out with the boss. If for a few bad games then we wouldn't have a squad to choose from.

Statman. I was talking about the OP by the way.
Nani's missed a couple of games he perhaps was not suited to tactically. The diamond.
His form hasn't been good this season. (He has explained his lack of form last season himself)
Give the guy time to get back to where he was 2 seasons ago. Pretty devastating
