CPFC or Bolton Wanderers. Dougie's Dilemma.

Original thread updated after Tuesdays news: -

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Dougie Freedman has joined Bolton as their new manager.
He replaces Owen Coyle, who was sacked after Wanderers were relegated from the top flight in May and then made a poor start to the Championship season.
Palace granted Bolton permission to speak to Freedman, 38, on Monday, having initially rejected an approach.
But a statement on the Palace website on Tuesday said the Scot had joined their Championship rivals.
It reads: "Crystal Palace Football Club can confirm that first team manager Dougie Freedman has joined Bolton Wanderers.
"The board of the club would like to put on record their thanks to Dougie for all his efforts over the past couple of years and their disappointment over the events of the past few days.
"The search for a replacement starts immediately."

Fair enough MT I don't think even the Bolton fans wanted him!

Hopefully the whole story will come out and we can hear why a club legend has left us when we've been playing the best football in years and pretty much had a job for life!

Derren. So whats you new profile name ?? Just think of all the sites you will have to re-register on m8!!

how about...dougie the c>ntnever_returns

Whichever way, you look at it; he is a VERY NAUGHTY BOY!
Just when I thought I’ve seen it all at CPFC it comes to circumstances like this when you think ‘why do I bother?’ I’m starting to lose faith in football as it’s all about the wonga! EveryF’Ntime we’re on the up, there’s always come c>nt trying to destroy Our success! DF is irrelevant to my club & the biggest hypocrite moody b@$tard eeever – that I only wish failure!

Would I take him back? When hell freezes over mate, he knew what he meant to us fans!

Mallorca Grotty, whats up , "truth hurt does it", and bitter I'm not, it's a well known fact on here and on Hol, that I'm not an admirer of Freedman's style of play or his ultra defensive tactics. His inexperience will be exposed at your place, unless your expectancies are low.

I also take it you don't like facts, Gary Megson, Owen Coyle, and now Dougie Freedman are all the same underhanded poaching ethic, and you find that acceptable, I'd be embarrassed if the club I support conducted it's self in such away, If Freedman approached Bolton thats a different matter, but he didn't your Chairman came down to London to make the approach himself on Saturday.

No I'm not bitter, just looking forward to the appointment of a new Manager with experience to take us forward and upwards.

There must be a reason why he's ditched us other than money? If not then I agree Paul, it feels like another "Why do I bother?" But this is Palace. The lows make us appreciate the highs (or something along those lines)

My understanding was that Crystal Palace, and 'Boro to an extent, were meant to show the rest of football what it's really about. Owned by fans, managed by a club legend and have the best atmosphere/ fans in the country. Have a sustainable club were everyone works together.

Hmm new name for Derren? How about "The first rule of Prediction Football club is... Don't tell Paul Holden when he's won the previous round"

I'm sad, worried and disillusioned. The term "legend" is not easily won - but so easily lost! The wording of the terse club statement speaks for itself. The owners have been let down by the man they took a chance on.

What worries me is will DF try to take Lennie with him or, worse, will he be looking to poach key players like Zaha come the January window?

well, what can the other reason be? :S
we are higher in the table.
We have the players.
We have the academy.
He had his disputes with Steve Parish, but nothing major.
So, what’s left other than Bolton embracing their parachute money?

If it was to an ex-club (Forest/ Wolves etc...) I may of understood, but he was meant to be Mr CPFC!

It wouldn’t surprise me (as nothing does anymore) if he takes the coaches, plus the heart of the team...Jules, Zaha, Murray, KG, Johnny Williams. :'(

Can defo take David Wright tho!!!

Well prepare yourself for some conspiracy theories but apparently there was a falling out between the board and DF over the summer and he took the safe option and went for Bolton. However even if CPFC2010 didn't offer him a new contract (no reason why they wouldn't) he could still get a job at another club

So dreaded question but who should replace him? I wouldn't mind Lennie getting the job. Coppell has been our best manager but wouldn't want to see another legendary status ruined!

bolton fan,---cant be about money we have £110 mil debt so i dont think we will be offering him that much, i think we are as suprised as you,We have youth team coaches doing a great job here, since coyle left,Who are probably better qualified than freedman ie sammy lee,it just does'nt add up you being up amongst the leaders, the only thing we have heard is he only had 6 months left on his contract and there was no talk of a new one,Anyway if you get coppell we just may have done you a favour he would have been my choice if our own lads could'nt turn it round,

I'm not so sure about Lennie Lawrence after last night, 1-0 up after 11 mins, after completely outplaying them we fall back into a ultra defensive position after just 15-20 mins, it's last season all over again, makes me wonder how much influence Lennie Lawrence had over DF with the defensive tactics.

The word is that Ian Holloway may be the one to replace Freedman.
