Defense or Attack?

With Arsenal not willing to ever spend enough money to truly fix the team through and through. Where do we start the healing process?
We had a pretty rock defense that threw away nothing. Now we have a defense that can't wait to let strikers past and ship goals.

We had a slow to start but when up to speed, a rocking attack that was putting teams to the slaughter. Now we have a attackers who won't even put the ball on target.

I can accept that this won't last forever but every season this happens. We go from hero to zero in a week with no middle ground. Yes we have some solid first team players missing. But they are always missing. Diaby and gibbs should just be shoehorned out the door. They are both great to have in the team but they are never in the team! We have so so players that found some form and now are right back to last season!

We have thrown away everything we worked so hard on to get right at the start of the season. What on earth went on at the club over the international break?
