Roversmarc.
I just read your comment about Bennett.
He does stuff like that too often and has much to learn.
As others have said on here, Deano has played at the hkghest level.
Bearing that in mind i am sure he will be working on Bennett to get him playing the way he wants him too.

Alex, I say it's irrelevant because they've just been turned over, perhaps undeservedly, by our team. Bad feelings immediately after a game. Watch the premiership, managers blame things for defeats, they very rarely praise other teams. But give them a week and things may differ.
And yes some managers at this level do make the grade, but they are a rarity!
For me don't give a she 1te, they can say what they like, we got 3 points, they got none! End of!

First of all, I think someone is over-egging that pudding, although I can imagine that player is about our most expensive today.

I think we had an offer of 750k for him a few years ago. The offer was met with the "we are not selling our best players" line. If you're not going to sell them, you're going to probably have to improve their terms. So, your example supports what I am saying. SOD wasn't allowed to sell when that was the sensible thing to do.

Ny. Do you know for sure that Woods is on 7k per week.
Even if he is we cant blame him for securing the best deal he could get for himself.
The club chose to do the deal so good luck to him.
Most of us will have done the same thing in the past.
I have.
Fuzzy. The last time the subject of bids being put in for Woods came up the figure bandied about was 500k.
Selling our best players and hoping to survive wouldnt have worked.
We simply didnt have enough Championship quality players for us to be able to hold our status.
Look what happened when we sold Sharp.
To replace sold on players with young promising players and expect them to keep us up was never going to happen.
It takes time to develop players, look at Bennett, and football doesnt give you time.
I keep reading that the club needs to do this and that and it seems to me that some on here clearly think that they know more than the management.
In the midst of all the doom and gloom comments at the start of the season suggesting that the best we could hope for was mid table and even that we could suffer another relegation i said that we should trust the management at the club to do their jobs.
I said that they know much more than any of us about what needs to be done and it does look like it is turning out that way.
It isnt all so bad at the Rovers.
Other clubs are struggling much more than we are.
Look at the likes of Coventry and Scunny who have come down in the last couple of years.
Sheff Weds went up and are having a tough time staying there.
Give the management some credit and trust them to do their jobs.
I remember Mark Lawrenson saying last year that Deano would become a very good manager.
It may be that he too knows what he is talking about.

Excellent post Hound, I agree with everything. To answer your question Yes, I was told this, and that he was one of those to be off loaded, however, with his injuries and boor form that has not been possible.

In no way did I say that it was his fault (MW) as you say a player gets the best deal he can. I clearly laid the blame at the feet of SoD and JR, but even SoD could not have done so without the BACKING of JR.
In a response to Fuzzy, you will see that is what I said and that the other two owners were right to clamp down. We were giving contracts for lengths of time which were wasteful and for amounts that could not be justified.

At the moment everything in the garden is rosy, but it only needs a couple more long term injuries added to a couple of red caards and we COULD be twelve to fifteen places lower.
Where I think Dean will be different is in offering players short term deals as he has with Clingan, this may mean they go elsewhere if they play well, but we get the benefit whilst in the side. If we get promorted we can then look to extra investment from outside, but until then, let's enjoy what is.
