Stevenage 0 Swindon 4

Sir Alex Ferguson: "Football - bloody hell!"

Jimmy Greaves: "It's a funny old game."

SwindonGeorge: "Golly, I wasn't expecting that."

A fantastic and surprising result - I've only seen the stats, which is rather limited, but it really seems to have been a barnstorming performance. 62% of possession, and 12 shots on target to their 3.

A lot of rotation too, as PDC suggested would be the case. And the squad isn't good enough to do well in this division without further tampering? Don't think so....

Good to go into the Villa match on a high. Predictions for the XI vs Villa are welcome - good luck with that challenge!

George,

Love the article, but the next result relies on purely who players. RDV, most improved and consistent player this season, Mr Reliable and Canioman keeps dropping him to the bench or less., what he sees in the mis firing Collins I don't know. Midfield actually functioned today without Navaro, so that says a bit, and Storey by all accounts was a revelation. Problem is I doubt if they will start against Villa, he will resort to favourites once more. Oh, and we need somebody who can bury a penalty, hmmmm someone like Caddis, RDV maybe ?

What a result! My predictions were completely wrong! I was worried about McEverly & Ferris not starting. I think, that this squad, given decent coaching, can do the business without new additions.
What impresses me most is their adaptability. No-one stands out as being absolutely essential, maybe Wes excepted.
Penalty takers need to be looked at. I'd give Ritchie the next one.

Great article SG.

My son lives 15 minutes from Stevenage and I was tempted to go but I'd been to Crewe in the week and it would have been an expensive trip for me. I certainly made the wrong call there!

From the commentary we sounded all over them. When I saw the line up I told my mate it was either a masterstroke or a disaster with my money on the latter. Wrong again and very pleased to be.

I agree with Red, I'd give Ritchie the next pen (assuming we get another!)

This has certainly given us all the lift we needed. Roll on Tuesday

Good comments chaps - all make good sense.

I didn't see a meaningful role for RdV at the beginning of the season, but he's surprised me. A sharp finish for the first goal if you get a chance to catch it on MOTD2.

I'd also try Ritchie on the pens. Competent technically and should be up to the task.

Seen the goal...a very confident and classy finish. He played well at Crewe too.

He's surprised me as well.

Bit late with this, but congrats on Saturday's performance. Dominant from start to finish, particularly down the right hand side, it was a very unpleasant watch for us Stevenage fans.

What was going on between De Vita and Flint after he scored the first one? That didn't look very friendly.

Commiserations on your loss to Villa last night, sounded like a good close game on radio 5, you pushed a prem. side all the way which is a good effort. Better than our capitulation against Southampton.
