Striker Summary Stats For First 9 Games

Yes, the comparison is somewhat tenuous because the players are utilized differently, play for teams that are arranged differently, have a different calibre of players around them, etc. But just for fun, here are some summary statistics for the first 9 EPL games this season:

Lukaku: 1 Goal or Assist per 99 minutes of play
Torres: 1 Goal or Assist per 111 min
Tevez: 1 Goal or Assist per 67 min
RVP: 1 Goal or Assist per 61 min

Lukaku: 1 Goal per 99 min
Torres: 1 Goal per 195 min
Tevez: 1 Goal per 168 min
RVP: 1 Goal per 96 min

I think a good takeaway is that Lukaku seems to be developing well at West Brom.

Lukaku doesn't get any service

cant believe how similar torres's career path is to shevchenko, one of the best strikers for years then move to chelsea and the talent is just gone? bizzare, chelsea's attacking force would be scary if torres was at his peak

The above shows he doesn't provide any service either! Unfortunate for West Brom!

Was thinking the same thing. However, I think Sheva struggled with a different league, and a different style of team.

In Torres' case, he seemed to be on a downhill slide by the time we bought him, and this is probably in part due to his chronic injury issues. Also, there's the psychological problem that he was highly dedicated to a rival team that doesn't like us very much, and I'm not sure he consistently shows the same level of enthusiasm playing for Chelsea as he did for Liverpool.

I don't see Falcao having the same problems as either Torres or Sheva if he came to Chelsea. We can't screw up with big-money superstar striker purchases three times in a row, can we?
