Today Sven has said he is still undecided weather he will try and sign Yakubu. I think if we can get him at the 2M quoted then we should go for it. But Sven is probaly waiting to see who else he can get. He has also said he wants to keep Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn but that could change depending on who we sign. There is a 4 way battle going on for Keiren Westwood with Man City, Sunderland, Everton and us going for him. Out of them clubs we are the only club to offer him first team football so dont count us out just yet.
Lee Hoos has said we more then likely wont be joining a reserves league.
Waghorn, Howard, Yakubu and Westwood

Interesting that we're not entering a reserves league. Must be planning on not having a big squad then.

The word is out that we have loads of money. I think we are making noises so that it will offset this, to enable us to pay more reasonable transfer fees and wages.
Our owners say they are retail experts - this means keeping costs down to make a profit. Willing to make a loss to get to the Premiership, but if you can reduce that expected loss, all the better.

I am wary of the Yak, I think if we can get him for £2m then that's a fair price but it is the wages that worry me, unless he is willing to take a huge drop then I worry he wont find form and see out a big contract with us without contributing enough to justify the wages. I do think he could score 20+ goals next season but likewise could be uninterested too and settle for a big payday, which must also upset the rest of the squad to a certain extent. I don't think we should pay huge wages for anybody. Making a loss to get to the Premiership is fine but I don't think the owners should be silly about it and need to think long term too. Buy good quality youngsters with something to prove who add value to the club, with just one or two experienced big named players but only if the wages are sensible for our club.

Sven has been dropping public hints that we wouldn't be able to pay him as much as he's on in the Premiership. I assume those comments are for Yakubu's benefit.

Sven is a wily old fox - if the Yak really wants to play for us next season then he'll have to prove it. I like it!

If rumours are true that he's on 40k a week and he wants that again at lcfc I think sven should offer him a 25k a week contract, and if we get promoted we'll back pay the wages to 40k a week.
This way keeping the yak hungry for success
