Striker in Jan

May get shot down in flames but does anyone think that now with all the big spending teams purring over Falcao that now is maybe the best chance we will get to fling some big bucks the way of Cavani?

Would definately solve our goalscoring problems.

I'd say 55 goals in 78 isn't too shabby. Doesn't seem overrated to me and he isn't even an out and out striker, in my opinion.

Can't see us buying Bent, a 29 year old either.

Huntelaar

Huntelaar is also 29. I'd take him though.

Llorente could be a good option.

Makes me laugh when people say that Liverpool have 'no chance of getting him', or 'he wont come to Liverpool', when generally we are talking about players who have actually achieved nothing in football as of yet, but are deemed too good to play for a massive club like Liverpool.
The argument regarding champions league football is of course a valid one, but come January, I see no reason to believe that we wont still be within a couple of wins of fourth, so any player looking for champions league football, with half a brain, would be stupid not to consider a move to Liverpool, especially a striker, who would have the opportunity to play alongside one of the best forward players currently playing anywhere in europe, and play a part in earning the right for the club to take part in that competition, that seems to override, and to some extent, spoil every other aspect of football in this country.
Of course we all want to be in it, for many reasons, not least of all the revenue it generates for the club, but when you stand back, and look at the game as a whole, the huge financial implications involved in playing in this competition, or not, and for that matter, the premiership also, goes a long way to overshadow every other aspect of football in this country.
It may be a fact of life in modern day football, but non the less, it still for me, with the financial shadow both competitions cast over every other part of the game, kills off everything else around it.
As for Cavani, I believe hes somewhat overrated, and the type of money you would have to spend to get him, would be better spent elsewhere.

I'd love to know how what rating meter people are using which says that a player who has 55 league goals in 78 in the Italian league is overrated.

The simple reason why he won't come is that if he were available then clubs in the Champions League would be in for him and he'd choose a Champions League club, it's really that simple, unless of course he'd like to come and play with two Uruguayans we have already at the club.
