Was doing a one player game and was close to level30 when I decided to play some matchmaking. It restarted me at 1 but I thought it was calculated separately from my real game but when I tried to continue me game it started from where I was last playing online. My character was wiped!!! WTF?

It's called bad ass level - if you are using a modded machine then the servers will know and as soon as you die your entire character file gets wiped out. Unfortunately innocent people get affected like you seem to . If you team up with another player but they have a modded machine, then your character will also be completely wiped out. Very harsh. You can be totally unaware of the other player machine set up and still suffer for it
