Lets say we draw Chelsea in the next round. Would Bates want to hold on to LUFC that bit longer to oversee the game or would he bottle it and sign the takeover papers immediately to avoid his former club?

My money would be on both.
Bates will hang around long enough to line his pockets with the gate receipts but stay in Monaco for the game whilst renting out his flat above Stamford Bridge to Haigh at extortionate rates (providing it's an away draw of course).
