Is he getting shrink/therapy/counselling support?
Don't believe he has lost all his ability, but has patently lost confidence and self belief.
We can afford the best help but it does not like he is getting it.
Serious Torres question

hmc Of course he sees a sport psychologist, I think all our players either do or have the option.

Makes you wonder if said SP is earning his dough or whether FT is willing to listen then......

RE Torres just accept that this is the new him. Anything more he provides is just a bonus. Lucky we made a fair amount of wedge we spent on him back just by having him.

I don't think its his mentality at all. He's just not as good as he once was and the spirit to fight just isn't there. Not everyone can keep the fire going when they are paid waves of money. Why do you think most bands sound like shlte once they've "made it"?

'spirit to fight' is mentality though. But there's not a lot we can do to light a fire under him.
In the Newcastle game, when he got booked for diving, he played the rest of the game with a point to prove. Result? 70% back to Liverpool, for most of one game only.

Its not something that can really be fixed. I'm surprised more players don't care less with the money they're making. Anyway I meant I don't think its primarily his mentality. His ability seems to have taken a knock ad well as his decision making.

Torres is lacking confidence
his headers mostly on target because he doesn't get much time to think. while when 1-2-1 with goalie or in good position he just want to take one more touch to open the goal because he doesn't trust his shooting.

I don´t buy all this lack of confidence thing.
Torres has confidence but at the same time I think he has a fear of mucking up, especially in front of goal.
For that reason he rarely scores in the one on one situations or when he has time to think about what he is going to do.
Torres scores precisely when he doesn´t have time to think and the ball is already in the back of the net before he´s had time to think about it.
The media pressure on Torres ever since he came to Chelsea certainly hasn´t helped Torres in this regard.
But hey since when have the media ever done us any favours.

....and a sport psychologist should be able to help with this!

The ammount of players we have signed in the last 10 years makes it inevitable that some would be good some bad & some indifferent. The turnover of managers has ment players who may have come good given time have been discarded, others were not rated by the new manager ect ect. Some players were clearly not suited to the English game eg Veron, some or their families couldnt settle in the country eg Crespo some didnt suit our style of play eg Torres early on. Others clearly joined towards the end of their careers eg Sheva. The same early downturn in careers has also happened to former Liverpool forwards Fowler & Owen so may be being played whilst not fully fit by Liverpool is partly responsible, who knows. Bottom line for me is that there are other options Cavanni Falcao Jovetic but no guarantees that they will be able to settle in streight away. Remember Kleberson ? awsome world cup for Brazil a joke at Man Utd. it happens mistakes are made. Forlan useless here great in Spain.
