Our best midfield trio?

As our last season's best player will be returning to action this month, what do you guys think is the strongest starting midfield?
For me it's obvious that Lucas-Allen-Sahin must start and especially looking forward to seeing Allen in that more forward role. Some might argue Gerrard needs to be there, but I sense lack of urgency in our talisman, and feel that his movement leaves much desired. I could really see him as an impact sub but not to start every game, this way we could keep him fresh at all times. It's vital the proposed starters will gel and have plenty of game time together, and hopefully Sahin will plan to stay beyond the season!

Aslong as Gerrard only plays once aweek then he's fine, anymore than that then he plays poor.

I cannot wait for Lucas to be back, in my opinion he is the best DM in the league.

Maybe we won't get caught on the counter as much.

Lucas, Allen and Sahin/Gerrard would be my trio.

------Lucas------
Allen------Sahin

Is our best... Gerrard as an impact sub or starter if we're at home vs a team we are expected to beat. Or a team we are expected to dominate at least.

Lets just hope Lucas is still as good as he was prior to his injury.
It still a position we need effective cover for.

This is an important question. I think Allen has been below par the last couple of games and needs support in there. We could play a 4-4-2 with Allen and Sahin, Sterling and Assiadi on the wing or a 4-3-3 of Allen, Sahin and Gerrard. What's clear is Gerrard won't last forever.

People need to remember that Lucas would have been out for basically a whole year.

It is highly likely to take him a couple of months to get anywhere near his best form, possibly won't even manage it this season.

Those expecting him to come in and instantly change the dynamic of our defensive play and ball retention are likely to be disappointed.

Gerrard has been our best midfielder. He had one poor game against Arsenal and people keep trying to shoot him down without any base. It's simple its Gerrard and two other.

I agree that Gerrard has probably been one of our better players in midfield.

But only because Lucas is injured and Sahin is adapting.

In episode 5 of being: liverpool. Brendan takes jonjo to the side and says he wants him to be able to play at the top of the midfield three, so that gerrard can play on the right of the front three.

Wether that for gerrard is still an option or not I don't know.. But It interested me..

Presumably also sahin will play at the front of the three ahead of jonjo.. That is where sahin excels, great at threading through balls and good late runs into the box..

Insert, he might have said that to Shelvey but let's be honest other than the super sub game against Young Boys he has not produced it in the prem. He can't interchange with Suarez like Gerrard can. Gerrard is still more mobile and recently Stevie's dead ball game has been outstanding.

Kash is about right there to be fair.

Jonjo is an improving young player with a big future, but he has had a chance in recent months to cement a first team place and has failed to do so.
