I prefer to part with the odd couple of quid on mad accas - never likely to win and never lose anything worthwhile. Though I have done really well this season and covered three season's worth of stakes to date.

There is a huge difference between gambling and taking a risk - some do both simultaneously and end up in the gutter.

Strictly speaking, you are taking a gamble when you open a bank account or take out insurance. They are not necessarily a risk, though.

i have to admit i don't know anything about gambling or maths or numbers for that matter.
what i do know though is that its dangerous to think of something, think that the something you've just thought of may end up like this and then put a number on it ending up like this then withdrawing money and putting money on that number that represents this
