Anderson & Cleverley

I would like to share my views on the two players, and see if fellow Reds agree with me.

Now Ando has so much more talent than Cleverley it's ridiculous. A few years ago Anderson was being called the 'new Ronaldinho' and Clevs was playing his trade at places like Watford and Leicester. Now Cleverley is keeping Anderson out of the Manchester United first team. Just shows how far the right attitude and a good work ethic can get you in Alex Ferguson's sides. I think Anderson should be given a chance, but I do admire Ferguson's valuation and reward of the hard work Cleverley has obviously put in whilst Anderson has been out clubbing and crashing cars.

If it was up to me Anderson would be our first choice ahead of Cleverley, but I'm wondering if this is really a key behind Ferguson's success- he is not afraid to overlook talent if it comes with a bad attitude. This really sets him apart from almost any other manager I can think of. I don't think Di Matteo or Mancini would have Cleverley as first choice ahead of Anderson, and neither would many of us. But I think by starting Clevs, Fergie is sending a message to Anderson: no matter how much talent you've got, you have to work hard to play in this team. Judging by Anderson's performances this season, it seems to be motivating him. To be honest judging by Carrick's early season form we should be playing Clevs and Ando in the middle, but it seems we're set on partnering one of the two with him.

thought i'd be the first to point out the obvious...

...you have compeltely missed Anderson's injuries in the whole article. This is the main factor. Now he is fit...(may still not be 100% btw), he will start most our games imo

Ronaldo was out partying and crashed his car too. Did you doubt his work ethic?

Anderson trains very well, one of the first to arrive and one of the last to leave. Tom, decent player he is is picked ahead of him because of injuries not attitude.

I really don't get people on here. Whenever Anderson gets injured people are all saying he's awful. It retakes him about two games and everyone's raving again. How fo people have such short memories? He is imo, our best midfielders, if it wasn't for his injuries I honestly think he'd be world class by now.

Forest fan in peace....

I have always been a massive fan of Anderson, he is a forward-thinking midfielder who looks to drive at players, and tries to inject pace.

People insist on his injuries, but in the past 2 years, who has played more games, Cleverley, or Anderson? As I know Cleverly has had injuries?

I only know by what I see on the tv. I watch a fair bit of United, I'm a fan of Ferguson.

In my honest opinion, the best I have seen Utd play was at the start of last season, from the second half of the community shield to I think the Bolton game, where Anderson and Cleverly played in the middle. The football you were playing was fantastic!

I know Anderson's fitness is in question, but he genuinely picks up the ball and sprints past players. Not knocking Carrick here, but if you are able to make a comparison, who covers the most distance in a match?

I'm not knocking any of your players here, just curious as to what the stats/views are

All the best for the season
