Was having a conversation over lunch at work with a guy i'd never met, ended up chatting about whether footballers are born to be footballers, or if their parents "manufacture" them
Was thinking about the maldini family, the zidane sons, the rooney brothers, the wanyama brothers, kasper schmeichal, the laudrups, palacios brothers the list goes on.
Do you think that these players have football forced on them at such a young age that they themselves end up being pros?
And if so, do you think it would be possible to make any human being a great footballer if you start them at toddler level and religiously train them or get them a place at a top training academy?
Wonder what career sergio aguero's son (maradonas grandson) will go into?
Born or made?

Has there ever been a son of a well known good player who goes on to be better than his dad? They always (like Kaspar Schmeichel) seem to be a poor version of them.
I'd say its 50/50 between genetics and coaching. But then there's attitude and desire as well, I don't think those players whose dad has been a success have the same fight or desire to succeed.

There have been loads of sons of international players who never made it to the same level e.g. Strachan, Sturrock, Durie, Dalglish.

if that guy didn't have gammy knees then the media would now be asking "is messi close to ronaldo?"
best player i've ever seen, being applauded from both sets of fans when coming off against man utd after the 4-3 game was amazing.

Most important is born - genetics
Then early childhood from parents or some drive created by a hard life
By the time a proper top flight club gets ahold of them it's all pretty much cast in stone already.
Circumstance (chances because of injury to those ahead) can play a part.
But generally speaking I've never bought into the idea that managers or clubs can turn players into class. Owen, Fowler, Giggs, Scholes, etc. Born class.

Talent is natural but to get them to realise it takes good coaching
On the son better than father front Ronaldo is on a par with his fat dad
Jackie McNamara???? I've ever seen his dad play so can't say.
Maldini definitely
Tom Ince has more natural talent
