Disgrace

Did any of the Pakistan or India fans try to get hold of Pakistan vs. India tickets that came on sale today? Pakistan play India in Birmingham in the champions Trophy in June next year. I tried getting tickets; according to ICC website said they’d be available at 10.30am. Called and called and called. Eventually got through at 11.30 to be told – they sold out in 30 minutes.

How The Folk is that possible? It’s blatantly obvious that ICC have handed the tickets out to corporations who will no doubt sell them on +50%. Scandalous. Next time the ICC wants to talk about corruption and mismanagement of finances – they ought to look in the mirror.

All other tickets are still available apparently -

I'm always amazed by how many fans can make it all the way from Pakistan and India for a cricket match in the English Midlands

TBH I think your experience is pretty typical of 'high profile' international matches in England. I has pretty much an identical experience as you when I tried & failed to get tickets for the England Australia test at Trent Bridge.

As for the 'within 30 minutes' point... well the problem (?!) is that automated web-based ticket allocation systems can sell much faster than a human ever could, and deal with vast numbers of customers at once.

If you think about it, say there are 15,000 tickets available, thats 500 a minute. Say the average customer is buying 4 tickets - thats 125 customers a minute or approx 2 transactions a second. Not a stretch for a computer at all.

Bit of a dissapointment for those of us at work when the tickets go on sale though

Didn't think of it like that. Good point wideboy.

Problem with online is that it gets congested too, so doomed on phone and net for these kind of games

I was able to pick up 3 tickets and a mate of mine got 8. But we bought them a couple of days before the general release on the 5th as we've signed up for the ecb 12th man thing which gave us information about an earlier release. Managed to get eng vs aus tickets as well.
