A poster made a list of five segments in which he proclaimed Vettel the greatest driver on the grid. I thought I would post the five segments I feel are more appropriate to judge the three protagonists.
1> Raw speed (qualifying)
Alonso 9/10
Hamilton 10/10
Vettel 8/10
2> Race pace
Alonso 10/10
Hamilton 9/10
Vettel 9/10
3> Overtaking ability
Alonso 9/10
Hamilton 9/10
Vettel 7/10
4> Wet weather skills
Alonso 7/10
Hamilton 9/10
Vettel 8/10
5> Tactics (although this is very much team influenced too)
Alonso 10/10
Hamilton 7/10
Vettel 9/10
Total
Alonso 45/50
Hamilton 44/50
Vettel 41/50
Now at the time I said these things were meaningless, and they are. However, the scores pretty much reflect how I feel about the skill levels of the three guys. So do you agree with the scores I gave? Do you agree on the five segments?

He knows what he's doing
He doesn't need the team.

Bad news for this forum.
martial artist (U9033) is back to ruin a forum. I am going to filter him but if anyone is daft enough to read his child like comments then you deserve what you get. The guy has been banned everywhere.

But Alesi seemed happy to be poor in a dreadful Ferrari whereas Sch could not tolerate it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Alesi somehow kept the belief that the Ferrari would come good.
Massive mistake in a sense by joining Ferrari over Williams, but at the time of joining I think Ferrari>Williams in terms of recent results (well based on 1990).

pretty much agree with your scoring criteria bud not all of it but most of it , for me the really great drivers have more tactical intelligence than the other guys they are racing and for me alonso especially and vettel have a bit more in car savvy than lewis that is the most obvious difference i have noticed over the years ,
do not completly agree with your wet weather skills sector , for me lewis was only ever decent in 2008 in this dept when he had a mclaren that was superglued to the track that year -- since then he has not really done alot in the wet -
however most of your other scoring criteria i pretty much agree with --

The criteria highlighted are much better than the ones chosen in the other post,I.e. Attitude.
I think Alonso is a better wet racer than you've given him credit for.
The funny thing is that we can debate this till the cows come home but it's clear that the best drivers on the grid are Alonso, Hamilton and Raikkonen.
Vettel and Button are very good when their cars are faster than everyone elses but a re mediocre when they are not. Those 3 guys have the ability to make a horrible car outperform itself and have excellent race craft.

Alonso has found the wall many times in his career in the wet. Maybe it has something to do with him being Spanish. I see it as his Achilles heel.

Alain Prost was poor in wet conditions but won 4 WDC's.
If the current points system operated during his career he would have won another 3.
