When you have quality strikers.....you always have a chance at getting something from a game, even if you're playing terrible.
And my word.....that performance tonight bar the last 10 mins or so was absolutely SHOCKING.
Nice to be through with 100 per cent record and 2 games to spare but my word we haven't been anywhere near as convincing as the group table suggests we have been.
It's true what they say......

Problem is, he's a striker that can't finish.

Welbeck is a good player but will never be a great player. I really hope he takes that step up because we've hardly had any youth strikers come through and be a success for us in the past 20/30 years and he seems like a nice guy but I just feel he lacks that vital missing ingredient.

======
Most strikers get better with age. he's suffering because other aspects of his game are good.

Rob
You write that article then proceed to write off one of the best 21 year old centre forward in Europe. He's 21. People have short memories. He was great last season and playing on the wing isn't working because he quite clearly isn't a winger. His finishing will improve in time, this is obvious. Of course he can be a great player. He has ability in spades and is currently the victim of his versatility. I find it astounding after what he has so far shown us and achieved you don't think he can be a great player. I think he certainly can. I'd love to know what the likes of Drogba were doing at 21.

Kagawa
I didn't say he should be sold or hope he gets an injury. I just said that IMO he hasn't got that missing ingredient.
I did also say that I hoped he takes that step up.
There is a load of difference between hoping a player is sold/retired and hoping a player can prove me wrong.

we have bought RVP... he is now our best player and has to play... so we play Welbeck on the left and Rooney in MF. Both pretty pedestrian in those positions. Now Chica is hitting a bit of form and Kagawa will return soon...it getting complicated

Pedestrian!!!! Then who is that guy that keeps bouncing the football off strikers heads and into the net! Somebody has to give the striker the ball and Rooney is good at it...or are you like Wegner...(didn`t see a thing)

Rooney isn't a midfield player. He hasn't got the technique to retain the ball (it bounces of his chins) or to complete short passes under pressure (they get intercepted a lot) and hasn't got the vision (unless you call that cross field ball to the right wing, vision).
what he is good at is explosive moments of genius like Roy of the Rovers in Billy's Boots.. and scoring goals. He is a centre forward. Mediocre at international level ...brilliant for Man United.
