bonsoir again buds
just carrying on where fellow member director brayns left off with his thought provoking topic about vettel ,
georgio ascanelli one of FI leading and most experienced chief engineers who has worked up close and personal with sebastian , micheal schumacher and senna had this to say about young sebs abilities -
http://www.yallaf1.com/2011/04/21/ascanelli-says-vettel-in-sennas-league/
praise from the highest source of that there is no doubt -- for me vettel is very special with an intelligence to match and has not reached his peak yet
------ a sobering thought for his rivals --
highest praise possible for vettel ?

If I had a car that was faster than everyone else, I would want Vettel driving for me because he's consistent and knows how to bring the fastest car on the grid home with maximum points.
However if my car is at parity with others or even slower I wouldn't want him as he's also shown that he is not as impressive when faced with that challenge.
Senna and Schumacher could do that. Vettel can't do that yet so to compare him to them is a bit over the top

man utd devil
i was lucky enough to have watched the whole of senna"s career manx , i also understood how often he had an uncompetitive chassis/ engine or both to drive which was alot of his career hence why his deeds have given him god like status within the sport ,
to be honest i dont think we will ever see his like ever again , he had a freakish ability and intelligence that comes along once in a lifetime ,
however you have to give ascanelli"s opinion the respect it deserves because he has forgotten more than we will ever know and has worked very closely with micheal , sebastian , and senna , so he clearly he believes seb and senna worked in a similar way -
vettel does have alot of senna"s work ethic and attention to meticulous detail and ( i believe ) he has beaten the mclarens when at times they have had a similar performance or better than the red bull over the last few years ,( just my opinion manx )
however at this moment in time he might work in a similar fashion to senna and have alot of the intelligence that senna had but is not as complete as senna was --
but that is not to say he is not similar to senna in certain aspects and for that we have to give ascanelli"s opinion the respect it deserves --

Sebastian Vettel - 2 time WDC winner most probably 3, youngest driver to win a gp, Youngest driver to register points, youngest driver to win a WDC, record for most laps led in a season, won a gp in a bloody toro rosso and broken another countless records.

Yes, it's the car. If he was that great why was he struggling to get to q3, 1 win, 1 pole until the care became the best on the grid.
Alonso said, I'm racing Newey not Vettel. He was beaten in the lower formula by Di Desta, won in a torro rosso in dodgy conditions, didn't do much else and the legality of the cars he's won races with has always been questioned.
Jackie Stewart said, he will never be considered a great until he left redbull as the car is faster than everyone else.
I'm sorry, he's not all that. When his car is faster than everyone else, he's superb, when it isn't he's average.
Thiss is an indisputable fact

Stop listening to what Sir Jackie says. Use your own brain if you have it and form your own opinions. So you think all those records were broken just because Vettel had a good car? Remind me about the cars Senna drove in?? He constantly finished 2 seconds earlier in qualifying.
Yeah but we all are jealous how this young German who points his finger manager to do what Hamilton and Alonso have failed to.
Just because he had a better car.
