I don't have a problem with how much footballers earn and I've never really understood why people do, bar jealousy, but my pet hate with the modern footballer is when they say they want to play but don't lower their wage demands.
Step forward Joe Cole who desperately wants to play football and kick start his career apparently. Well here is the news Joe. Lower your wage demands because Lille would love to have you but not for 90k a week.
So do you want to play, Joe, or do you actually want to pick up £4,000,000 rather than £2,000,000 this year?
PS; You're already minted!
Joe Cole: I want to play

Hoody. I couldn't agree more, and that is without you even going into paying the little oik what he is actually worth.
And it isn't even close to 90k per week.

Let's be honest,he's sitting on a nice pot of gold offered to him by the previous regime, and there aint no giving that up whilst his career winds down!
He's enjoying life smoking, drinking and probably gambling, even though he's already won his lottery.
Something that we'd all love to be paid for whilst doing very little for it !
How else can he be coughing up chunks after 10 mins of being on the pitch?
Despite the rhetoric from him,he's just buying time until he milks it for every last penny he can.

Wasn't the signing of Joe Cole the signal of intent that Liverpool were going to be challenging for the title?

no that's just the sort of nonsense that other fans say. Apparently we always say next year will be our year too. Never seen an actual quote though;

Let's be honest. How many people here would want to take a pay cut?
Joe might be a washed-out, overweight plodder but he signed a contract, Liverpool were dumb enough to sanction it; so why should he slash his wage demands?

I've said it before and will say it again, blame whomever brought him in....

I wrote an article on BBC 606 on the Chelsea board shortly before he left for you. He had spend most of the previous two seasons injured and had a 90K offer on the table yet somehow though he was deserving of a pay rise. A complete joke especially given it was leading up to a World Cup where all his efforts should’ve been to try and re-establish himself in the Chelsea team with a view of representing his country on the biggest stage.
What a waste of talent his career has been.

I think a lot of you would do the same if you were in Joey Cole's position. Not all but some of you but because most of you have never been in that position, its easy to say "I would play for less money if it meant more games"
