How long until you see visible differences in size?

So many jokes....
Seriously though, its like losing weight, it takes time to gain.

Honetly, I've gained 4 stone since I started and dropped my bodyfat, and there hasn't been a single moment when I looked in the mirror and thought I looked any bigger than the last time I did so.
It's such a gradual process and you see yourself so frequently that you become accustomed to any small change before it becomes noticeable.
Keeping track of your weight, the amount you're lifting, and your body fat is the best way to do it.
Also, take photos and compare - you'll be amazed at the difference a few months can make!
If you're new to training, you can gain muscle pretty fast, and there should be some changes within a couple of months, I'd say.
Things like creatine and taurine can increase water retention and make you appear bigger quite quickly too.

I have been training for about 4 months now, 4 times a week, both cardio and weights and i have not really lost any weight (about 4 pounds in total), but notice a difference in my shape and strength.
my shoulders and biceps mainly, but overall I look more toned.
I am only now noticing the change so stick with it.
I am naturally stocky so maybe its been an easier transition for me....

What are you looking to do, lose bodyfat or gain muscle?

What type of body are u naturally? Ecto, endo or mesomorph? If u are an ecto then rugby size will be hard to achieve usually ecto's are easy to get 6 packs sort of guys.
As a starter DNT overdo the cardio, it will burn muscle tissue if I do it relentlessly. The second rule of training after "form" is "u cannot bulk up and cut up simultaneously.
Sacrifice definition for a few months and get those calories in! The bulk MASS is more achievable short term say a month or 2! But you won't keep it all once u shred down.
Unless you are born ripped i.e many black ppl who are genetically equipped a lot of the time. To get that "finished article" look takes around 3 years of solid training and nutrition! Patience is a virtue.
