Fair play to the young man. Nice to see a footballer with a brain and a conscience. People are quick to say things like "leave politics out of football" when certain songs are sung at grounds etc... Celtic and Rangers know this all to well. Now I am not saying certain songs have a place on the terraces, however - be consistent.
The wearing of poppy's brings politics into football!
Look what the British armed forces done in McCleans own city!
Double standards!

IGOR - I do not seem to remember Darren Gibson refusing to wear one? A lad from Derry also.

Who cares, its a choice whether you wanna wear a poppy or not. If you don't wanna wear one then so be it.

The irony of this is lost on the OP.
What the poppy represents is amongst other things, the freedom to choose whether or not to wear it.
To try to make a political point if of this is small minded and basically shows the OP to be slightly strange....

There have already been a couple of complaints and I don't hold much hope for this thread. Such a sensitive debate wont do the site our our posters any favours so will close this one to comments.

The OP can therefore have his point put across without it being deleted as the thread would inevitably gets nasty.
