Divas

So I was watching vintage wwe last week and caught a match between trish and Molly at King of The Ring. Anyway due to it being In the attitude era, I had to stay tuned..you know nostalgia and all that.

After the matched finished I looked at the time and 15 minutes had elapsed!! Now this may not seem that long but for a divas match this is HUGE. So I thought, where did that go?? So Then I realised that the reason I spent 15 minutes watching a divas match was because..... It was bloody good! So I rewound and watched it again from a critical standpoint.

TRISH - Apart from being stunning this woman had so many moves in her locker. She was game for taking bumps and was not afraid to get marked up. Her in ring ability was the best I've seen., and her charisma was something else. Women aren't usually cool (that sounds sexist but think about it first. However she oozed charisma and gained so much respect from the male fans. To have a beautiful woman be good a fighting(well faux fighting) lent to the illusion that she was bizarrely attainable.

Molly - never gonna win miss World but my goodness she put in a shift! Those 450's she used to do we're nothing short of awesome and her in ring skills were excellent. Her charisma was different to Trish, she had that best mate is a chick charisma a certain tomboy charm.

Now today I just fast forward through EVERY diva match! Why? Because the girls today are used in the complete wrong way AND there s simply too many of them for me to get attached. In the industry Women play a pivotal role in an era! The era of the manager saw "sherry" and that other chick with blonde shaved hair, and miss Elizabeth.

The era of the fighting chick during the attitude era, TRish,Lita ,Chyna etc

The pg era has completely mishandled the diva entity. The apathy surrounding the division is painful to watch! They have no place in this version. Pg era, women fighting?!

Maybe I'm wrong but anyone care to add to this or throw some interesting points my way? This isn't an article for kudos but a genuine request for a fulfilling analysis and conclusion of this topic.

Personally, just my opinion, i'd put it down to the same old problem. WWE's period of subsitution between 05-10 ------ pump resources into Cena, take away from tag division, pump resources into Batista, take away from cruiserweight division, pump resources into HHH, take away from women's division. It found itself guilty of the same crimes the other effected divisions did, not being the main event division (i.e. those 4 guys we watched in the same matches for almost a generation lol).

simple not enough time wrestling and more time posing for magazines, shoots, playboy etc.....

the lita/trish feud is one of the best feuds of all time never mind the womens division.

What do ppl think of Kharma's impact? Albeit brief! She represented a figure not since seen since the original Chyna back in the mid 90's. An unambiguous character of pure heel awesomeness. Her arrival was greeted by cheers, this proved to me that the division was shot! Id love her to come back because she like Chyna was a character who could cross over to the men's division and compete to some extent there! Such was her demeanour and build. She was so very different from the DIVA ideal and almost represents man! This bridging of genders was/would/could be the way to fix this pointless feminine paradigm that exists in the product.
