I am actually a MUFC fan but I am going to start taking my lad to Wigan home games, it is much cheaper and I quite like the way Wigan play, it isn't that obvious on the website, which is the best stand to go in when taking youngsters in there. Any help would be much appreciated.

The South Stand behind the goal is the family stand.
However, the seats in the East and West stands give a fantastic view of the game - as good as any in the league. You can sit high enough to see the game and still be close enough to the pitch to see the players. Not like the third tier at Old Trafford at all. The dressing rooms are under the West Stand.
There's usually a good atmosphere too - the Wigan fans are far more tolerant than those at Old Trafford.
I go on the train - it's twenty minutes brisk walk from either station. I think the roads around the ground can be congested, especially before and after the game.
There are some big games coming up, including Manchester United on New Year's Day. You'll need a record of previous purchases to get tickets for that as well as the Manchester City, Everton and Liverpool games. Season tickets offer incredible value, and are available for the last nine home games of the season, starting on !st January.
"To see Latics take on the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United at the DW Stadium costs adults from just £142, averaging around £15 per game, and for Under 11s half-season tickets are available from just £24, averaging at just over £2.50 per game. Family tickets are again offering amazing value in the South Stand with two adults and two juniors able to purchase a ticket for just £284 and senior citizens can get their tickets from £109."

Thanks Chicken, I didn't really get a response so I went on the Wiganer.net forum and got some really helpful responses, I have ordered seats in SS5 for the Reading with me an my lad, more importantly I have very high expectations of the pies, saw the comments re the City and Utd games, the City one is on a Wednesday so I would be getting back a bit too late for an 8 year old, I am thinking if we bought like it then I should go for the half season ticket, unbelievable value...thanks again.

There may be weekends when matches at Old Trafford and Wigan coincide. Season tickets should still be good value even if you miss a match or two.
(Last season, Wigan and Bolton fixtures were arranged to be home and away each weekend.)
Meat and potato pies are good and not expensive. A pie and a hot drink cost, I think, £3.90. No chicken tikka pies, though.
Enjoy the game.

PS Without a season ticket, to see United you may need to purchase tickets for three previous matches. Check the requirements for Wigan v City tickets.
You may not qualify for City tickets or be able to attend the City game. In that case, to get tickets for three games, you would have to go to Wigan v Reading, QPR and Arsenal.
