Liverpool fell to their first defeat of pre-season at Hull City on Saturday afternoon.
An inexperienced first half team found it difficult to make much impact on the game, despite having plenty of possession, and created very little in the way of chances.
Hull, on the other hand, were much sharper than their opponents and took the lead on 21 minutes through Robbie Brady. Brady received the ball before cutting inside and unleashing a shot which took a huge deflection and beat new goalkeeper Doni.
13 minutes later, Hull scored their second. Robert Koren received the ball following a good piece of play, and hit a left-footed effort into the corner from 25 yards.
New signings Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing entered the fray at half time and showed glimpses of why they were purchased. Downing forced a good save from the Hull keeper, while fellow substitute Andy Carroll looked lively but failed to take the chances that came his way.
Hull scored their third on 58 minutes through Jay Simpson, who slotted in from close range after the ball was headed forward to him. Liverpool twice had the ball in the net, via Henderson and Carroll, but both times they were offside.
The Reds are now halfway through their pre-season schedule, with games away to Galatasaray and Valerenga to come, along with a home match against Valencia.
