Lloris.... and friedel, Levy and AVB?
Afternoon/evening,
This has been probably been done on here at some point within the last 8 weeks or so, but this whole thing just doesn't sit well with me, has the makings of a Tottenham-style disaster.
I fully admire AVB's stance when he said he'd pick players on form and I know there have been 1 or 2 players who have also implied that redknapp had his favourites, so in that respect, Friedel hasn't really let us down this season. If we are also all led to believe that Levy was behind the signing of Lloris it makes sense - probably the best available keeper at an affordable price in the world who can fill that spot for 10 years or so.
Obviously deschump isn't happy, and Lloris has said it's not ideal, is it worth upsetting friedel in what may or may not be his last season in view of the future or does AVB stick to his guns and play those who deserve to play? Not advocating double-standards as to whether form or the longevity is the deciding factor but do we let things drift and possibly upset Lloris.... or is AVB just waiting for a friedel error so he can justify bringing Lloris in?
Thoughts welcome as always.
How to solve a problem like.....

its fecking dumb to have a 42 yr old in goal when you have a top keeper on the bench ,

I don't think it's a huge problem.
With lloris he has no right to complain apart from the France/Spain game he has averaged a mistake a game and has not been the world class keeper he has the potential to be. He was also being mooted to be dropped by France both as captain and keeper.
Friedels legs are going we know it happens supremely quickly in keepers and have to adjust to that.
The slow hand over is the correct one.
I also don't believe levy bought lloris. This summer the club has run somewhat without levy. (For personal reasons some are aware of) Not a chance he identified the player himself.

this is very true. but levy still had to sign off on signings... even if he did so from the states..

Of course lloris has made the odd mistake - he's not got that match sharpness. Besides I'm sure all of our outfield players have made a mistake a game.
Football is a business and a sport - on both levels, lloris should be playing IMO

I agree, only Spurs would let sentiment get in front of logic, I don`t know what it will take for Friedel to get dropped after letting in 16 goals in 10 games, that is over 1 and half a game. It don`t take a lot of working out that Friedel just does not do clean sheets, so why is he still playing.

Every goal keeper (i used to play as one for my local team) needs games to be consistent and confident. Lloris has made a few mistakes but this is to be expected as he plays to infrequently, the keeper is the last man between your team conceeding, he in my opinion is one of the vital players on the pitch. Look at Lloris over the last few seasons for France, he has been fantastic, same at Lyon who played regular champions league football. Lloris made his name playing against some great CL teams. I say stick him in now. Friedal should be number two for sure. If Lloris gets to play 5-6games on the run we will see how exceptional he can be, he is quick, agile and has super reactions, as good as Friedal may be, theres no denying he is not as strong in those departments as Lloris. Friedal has a wealth of experience but so has Lloris, in fact Lloris has played at a higher level to some extent with the champion league appearances for Lyon. I cannot see any valid reason for Lloris not to be picked, he has been with us for at least 2 months now.
