Button was slow in Germany Q3 genuinely because he was slow. His race result today due to the hydraulic fault was nothing to do with his qualifying pace and neither was the wheelnut incident from Britain. Button's race performance until his retirement today was dismal anyway, as of 90% of his F1 career, today brought out his cautious "do I make the move or don't I?" side and he was far too cautious and not gutsy enough to put a move on Rosberg. Jenson doesn't have the balls to do what Lewis did to Webber down the pit straight to take the lead.

Hamilton was slow in Britain Q3 because as a TEAM choice (something that Hamilton rarely has a say on until he is on the track) gave him used slick tires from Q1 amid knowledge that every other team was going out on inters. This weekend we saw Hamilton at his very best, and I hope the form continues through the season. Now you can cry that Im being biased as much as you like but you cannot deny the raw pace and ability shown in todays race between Alonso, Hamilton and Webber.

If you're going to make an argument, at least inject some facts into it to give it some beef and meaning?

Vettel simply bottled it in front of his home fans today, his race performance was below his 2011 standard and if he carries on like that he will make this years championship close.

If it was the other way round, with Button winning and Hamilton going out, you'd all be breaking out the tin foil hats and raving on about how Whitmarsh messed up Hamilton's hydraulics to avoid any risk of him chasing down Button.

I'm as delighted as anyone else here that Hamilton won yesterday, but don't use it as an excuse to mindlessly rip on Button.

take it you are talking to me about the respective qual performance of button and lewis in the last two races --
will agree that button was poor in qual at germany as he was never happy with the balance -

however hamilton cannot keep blaming everybody else everytime he gets it wrong as he did during silverstone qual --end of the day he choose the wrong tyres and paid the price -
please dont tell me he has no say in what tyres he uses during qual --

however i will agree that button has never floated my boat , for me he is just to inconsistant to ever be considered as a driver of the very highest calibre -
