Which one was it when rafa went. I always found it bizarre with his transfer dealings especially robbie keane deal and wanting to sell him straight away as well as the fact he wanted gareth barry instead of trying to keep alonso. Even Stevie me /G says alonso is one of the best players hes played with. To get aquilani instead for rip off price was crazy. I personally remember when alonso left and liverpool fans were going on about aquilani being a goalscoring midfielder and being more attacking then alonso. Since then liverpool have been playing kick and rush football, no fluidness really as you always seem to take snap shots to look like you are unlucky but its not luck if it happens over 75% of the time.
Either way if rafa was available would you take him back. Oh and by the way fact/ 'fackht' rant was hilarious. Most of it was a load of rubbish. I personally thought after that moment our players went crazy to win the premier league after that even though losing out to liverpool when we were about to go level would have been something saf would have not taken without a fight. He won it in the end.
The irony was liverpool that season relied on so many factors to go for as a lot of there wins were when they were playing against 10 men coming from behind in these games late on. In the end though liverpool squad was nowhere near as good as man utd competed in 4 fronts liverpool were really competing for the premier league and played fewer games in the champions league.
So rafa got liverpool 2 cups but his last year was very poor as they never looked like they could go on a run to win. 4th was there for them but they couldn't win to save there life as there squad had been weakend by benitez. Still though gerrard back pass and aquilani shot that hit the bar is all I remember when the title slipped away. Those 2 key moments gave liverpool no fight at all especially after getting knocked out of the europa league. Ever since then liverpool have done well against chelsea. Funny that. Rafa made his name with the games against chelsea in the champions league.
Now will he restore his reputation with chelsea now roman will do it his way, not rafa buying 50 players instead of most managers 5. To be honest I reckon rafa will be sacked by end of march. He destroyed inter milan the european champions/ treblee winners before he left.

Yeah it's such a myth that they could have won the league that season, (08/09) they were top in december but it was never as neck and neck as people in the media have since made out, we won it by 4 points but once we were on top the gap was always 4-6 points until the end of the season.
They scrapped through a lot of games and for 3/4 played terrible football, they drew 14 games and were lucky not to lose half of them.

bruceandpally, I thought that as well.
No doubt they were a good side, but people always say they should have won it that year which is rubbish. We were a better team and deserved winners, despite the two losses to them. Us and Barca were the two standout sides in Europe that year.

They had a good spine to be fair to them Reina, Mascherano, Alonso with Gerrad supporting Torres, it was just the rest of the team and the manager that wasn't up to scratch.

Agreed. Although they'll tell you the manager is world class - which they've been saying now he's at Chelsea.
I had an argument earlier with FJM and he couldn't accept that Rafa did a bad job at Inter. He was blaming everything on injuries. And said he did a good job.
