Anyone at the game yesterday? Who stood out for us?

I always felt last season that we should have gave Michel a chance the only problem being that playing Michel would mean we could not play all of Bowyer, Gardner, Ferguson and Larsson.
In order to keep those players happy we could only play the McLeish 5 man midfield.
As i would have thought that 2 from Ferguson, Michel and Larsson could have played in CM in a 4,2,3,1 which meant we could play a pair of propper Wingers and the one of Gardner/Bowyer in the centre of them.
---------Ferguson*-------Michel
Hleb-------------Gardner*---------Beausjour
* Maybe Larsson RCM, Bowyer CAM
With Zigic up Top could have been a decent 4,5,1 we coudl have used last season, (well in first half of season).
I think we could use the same this season, only Gomis over Gardner, Burke over Hleb and Mutch or Fahey over Ferguson.

aye the 4-5-1- CH is looking at based on your more atack minded players is a 5 man midfield when we dont have the ball and changing to a 4-2-4- when we do have the ball.
The two wingers and the attacking cm would make a four up top and two extra midfielders between the centre circle and the opponents box to pick up loose balls or poor clearances.
We do not have a dead ball specialist unless Beausy is any good.

Doyle was average, his kicking is very poor.
Carr was his typical self running up and down the channel.
Dann was strong and did all he needed to do.
Caldwell had a poor game and gave the ball away a lot.
Ridgewell played decent, didn't have much to do.
Burke was my man of the match, he took on players and had a good relationship with Carr.
Fahey went missing again.
Michel pulled off some good tackles but attacking isn't his strongest perk.
Mutch had a fairly good game, the midfield didn't really click though.
Murphy just booted the ball up all the time.
Rooney never got much of the ball and struggled to get service from our players, looked a lot like O'Connor type.
My overall view of the game is we need somebody who will take charge of the middle of the park, we looked way too lightweight. We need a striker too, I really think Sharp or Best could do a decent job but doubt we'll have the funds.
I know it's only a fitness match and we had alot of players out but it's going to be a very difficult season ahead, I can't judge how we'll do but with that squad that played minus Dann, lacks a lot of quality.

Jaypee,
I think I'm right in saying you were there.
Some reports said Blues fans were climbing the fencing to get in the ground and some were on the roof.
Did you see any of this?
It reminded me of Shrewsbury in the eighties. We took that many fans some were on the floodlights, some pitchside and some on the roof.
The game was held up when one came through the roof and landed on several heads.
In typical Blues style, we lost 1-0.

Well Fahey was not that bad in Ireland at dead balls, dont forget last season almost every freekick was Larssons.
Even though Gardner and Bentley (when played) have a decent freekick also.
I think we need to make sure any players who go get replaced with decent calibre of player i.e at least a Murphy/Fahey level if we want to stand a chance of Promotion.
Michels strongest point is his vission and passing and thats maybe why he was played in front of midfield, but he lacks pace and willingness to attack, just as Larsson did.
Oh well its not as bad as what McLeish has been doing with Villa and thats playing Heskey as a Left Winger

Pikey,
Yeah some of the blues fans got on to the roof of the home end.
The police said theywere only expecting 700 people to turn up, home and away fans. then over 1500 blues turned up, they didn't have aenough staff to get them all in so they locked the gates. A few never got in so decided to get into the home end via the roof.
No trouble, quiet good banter to be fair, just a lack of organisation!

That solves any future expantion plans at Blues.
If Yeung ever gets us back into the Prem and we stay up for a while we can incease capacity on the cheap.
Just stick 5000 seats on the Home end Roof
Yeung must be thinking!
"emmmm, i tink dat a weally good idea!"

They did get down off the roof into the home end!
I think the solution is simple, bring back standing, thats what they had at Hereford!
