Is he really the greatest manager the game has ever had? That is a huge statement and frankly way of the mark.Yes the greatest manager in the british game although liverpool fans can put a case forward for Paisley and Shankly, how ever gtreatest in the world is just pure bolocks.
How come people are happy to question what Pep can do outside the spainish league but nobody is willing to ask how Fergie would do if he worked outside the british isles.Pep won bucketloads of trophies at a rate Fergie has not even come close to achieving.Yes he had a great Barca team but it was hardly built from buying ready made stars.
Nobody makes excuses for Fergie when he had some of the best players from their youth setup in Giggs and Scholes.
For me its simple I have seen at least 3 better sides than any built by the united gaffer, that is the AC milan side of the early ninties, the Real Madrid side of the late ninties and the current Barcelona team.
For that reason I cant come close to calling the greatest manager ever unless longetivity is the only factor.
Sir Alex Ferguson

Given that it is 6.30am.. I can only conclude that you woke up thinking about Sir Alex....
This doesn't really support your argument too much...

Pep had a phenomenal group of players at the peak of their powers. Ferguson has consistently built and rebuilt teams, and consistently won trophies.
Thats the thing which players make up this phenomenal group xavi, iniesta and Messi.Eto,Deco Ronaldinho were on the way out and you could really say they only bought Zlatan and that did not quite workout.
Fergie also had Scholes and giggs, remarkable players and you can add to that Keane. Its just pure lazyness to assume that Barca have an unfair advantage which is what you are doing.
I remember the Braca in the twilight of Rivaldo career before Rikaard took over. They went 3 seasons without winning the league or doing any damage in europe.
People act as if Barca has been winning loads of trophies 30 years ago.
Before Rikaard Barca I believe had only won 2 european cups.
In any case Fergie hasnt even built a team close to dominating european football like the current Barca side

What Fergie has done over 25 years is more impressive than dominating Europe for 2-3 years, it's ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

Also, United hadn't won the league for 20 odd years when Fergie took over, bit different from Pep at Barca...

SAF all the way, Fergie has had some poor sides in the past but has still been able to get the best out of them

Yep he is, by a long way

I vote for Rehagel. His consistent achievements with Bremen over 14 years alone were phenomenal considering their limited resources and that they were a small time club before him.
And then he went on to top that in spectacular fashion by doing something hat will probably never be achieved again: winning a title in a major European league with a cash starved club in its first year after promotion, and winning the European Championships with a minnow whos title chances were estimated at less than 1 to 100 by betting companies before the tournament.

Fergie is a managerial god.
