I am getting quite concerned about the form of Trotty at the moment.I like Trott he is actually my favourite player in the England team, but he looks a tired and out of form batsman.
I am not suggesting his test career is over, but when your in this form I think its time to take a rest. What can we do with selection?,well maybe if he fails again have a look at Root opening, allowing Compton to play at three in the next test.
We need our batsmen to be effective in these conditions and grind the Indians down, and Trott at his most effective would surely do this.Bell also is massivley out of form and I believe he should not walk back into the test team when he returns.
Hopefully Cook and KP can kick on in the morning allowing Bairstow and Prior to play some shots later in day 3/early day 4.We hopefully should be aiming for 480/500 because this wicket will surely break up day 4/5.
Lets just hope Trott can find some form although I dont want him to be chasing that much.
Enjoy the Cricket its a beautiful game.

Yeah Trott does look a bit tired, my main concern with him is that he has always come across as being a bit OCD with all his repetitive tics when he is getting ready to face a ball. If he looses his confidence I can see him getting even more bogged down as he tries to get comfortable out in the middle.
He does not strike me as the type of player who will go out and just try to hit himself out of this rut. A break would make sense but I think the management will want to keep him out their. I just hope that this does not add to his problems, he's been a quality player for us and a major part of our success.

Trott has lost the plot

He's just having a blip lads. He could never maintain the average he started with. He is class - Been a long time since we had a good number 3.
I am more concerned with Bell against spin, why Patel is in the side and Bresnan.
Other than that, happy.

agreed Yorkie - think Brezza and Patel are lucky to be there, i think they may have picked Bresnan because of his uncanny knack of being in the team when its winning, well that has ceased to be the case recently. Trott to stay.

Dr agree. Bresnan is a steady bowler, but expect him back at Yorkshire eventually. Would make more sense for England to select Woakes if they want a bowling all rounder.
Anderson, Finn and Broad picks itself for me.

Anyone remember Tremlett? He was class before he got injured.

Crying shame about Tim Tremlett was outstanding when he came back at Perth in the ashes series and then blew away the Sri Lankans.
Think our bowling options for next summer will look like this
Anderson,Finn,Broad,Swann,Monty,Woakes,Bresnan and hopefully a fit CT.
play 5 bowlers
7,Woakes,8,Swann,9,Anderson,10,Tremett,11,Finn

I dont think Tremlett will play for england again tbh... not saying he shouldnt just dont think he will..... players like Meaker, Woakes, Finn, Briggs, Kerrigan, Mills, Buck, Coles etc... are the way forward for England.

No, injury has ruined his career sadly. Wonderful talent on his day.
Only issue amongst the bowlers, is Bresnan and Woakes aside, none can really bat. Broad and Swann have gone backwards.
I would like to see Woakes in the mix.
