Ramsey

I made a comment on the match thread today which was interpreted as 'Ramsey bashing'. I was immediately jumped on by Rev and called a 'twaat'.

So, for the benefit of those idiots who feel the need to question someones passion and support for the club if they criticise a player who despite being decent today has been poor for a while.

Ramsey is a decent player. He was one of our better players today. But he is too slow in everything he does. Yes he tries to be creative, yes he works hard, yes his passing stats are good. But not only does he still lack that burst of acceleration, but the leg-break seems to have also affected his shooting. He just can't really do it anymore. And he takes too long on the ball, it means that we lose momentum and our game relies absolutely on momentum. I feel for the lad and I don't think he deserves the abuse, no-one wants him to succeed more than I do. But I just don't think that in his current state he will ever really establish himself.

As for Arteta, he has been poor recently, like Ramsey he takes too long on the ball, and over time his passing has gone from being simple and efficient to just purely negative. He never tries anything, and his decision making has declined seemingly. A captain should lead by example, and when one has the technical ability that he does then you have to at least try something, and I suppose Ramsey should be given credit for picking up the slack.

Oxlade-Chamberlain very poor and has lost it a bit this season. Hopefully it's poor form rather than regression.

As for Gervinho, he's a glorified street footballer, no technique whatsoever, much rather Arshavin than him.

Now I hate being totally negative, so I will give credit to Mertesacker and Gibbs as well as Ramsey for good displays today. The rest need to step it up big time, as does Wenger. Coquelin for Giroud, really? If you're gonna sub Giroud at least keep Podolski on the pitch so he can play there.

Really frustrating.

why would you start insulting a player, straight after a game where he was arguably our best player? baffling.

We really need Diaby. That physical presence, someone who can embark on those 'get the feck out of my way' runs. Of course his injuries make it pointless to treat him as an Arsenal player, but I think Spurs did very well in the summer to sign a player who could have done the same job, maybe even more effectively, in Dembele. We really missed an opportunity there.

Because even though Ramsey was OK its the cumulative effect of watching him ping off a perfect pass, time and time again, having spent about 10 seconds working out that passes exact force, momentum, trajectory and gravitational potential energy whilst also factoring in the Magnus effect.

It's really frustrating.

pretty sure today he didnt do that. pretty sure today he was the only cm trying to create somethign, pretty sure he should have had 2 assists in the first half after 'quick releases' pretty sure today he was the one getting frustrated at cazorla and arteta for being as mobile as a that new fergie statue.

Very Very good points made by 100% Mert and will shave. I totally agree. I would like to see Arsenal be really ambitious in January and buy some real quality . Why not spalsh out 25M on Fellaini . Maybe Baines as well . Get a decent winger . OX does not look up to it at the moment. Why not splash out £60 or £70m and show some real intent for once. Oh and keep Theo . He is our best player at the moment.

Selling Theo will be the last straw for me with Wenger. That will be all of our key players sold in the space of 3 yrs. Give the guy what he wants because its blatantly evident that we miss him when he's not playing.

Spot on.

And its because Ramsey is too one paced and lacks acceleration. Previously Aaron could carry the ball forward with some pace and power. That allowed him to bypass a defender before making the pass. Now he has a defender in front him and he is so unsure of himself that he isn't going to lose the the ball that he dwells on ithe ball. That breaks our rhythm.

Arsenal like Barca are very reliant on quick rhythmical passing. Without it we cannot drag defenders out of position which means our wide players become isolated because they get terrible quality ball.

Its no surprise that our goals per game goes down, and goals conceded on the counter attack increases each time Aaron plays in midfield. This is exactly what happened to Denilson after he came back from injury.

I fear that Arsene is more beholden to pity in case of Ramsey and Diaby. A more ruthless manager would have shipped them out on sale or loan.

@EPLStatman Aaron Ramsey created the joint most chances and had more shots and made more passes than any other player against Aston Villa

Rev Ramsey

Ramsey may have done. Thats not the point. The point is more what were the quality of those chances and whether he stopped others creating more penetrative playing schemes.

I clearly remember Ramsey going past Santi on most times of the play and positioning him self against defenders like Giroud. Now that may been a plan by Wenger. But what it did was strand Arteta who is far more creative than Ramsey in a deep position. In that case if you mark Santi out of the game who is going to create? Wilshere and Arteta work better as a combination because Jack actually runs into the box (like Cesc used to) when he goes beyond Santi. That stretches the defenders. Whats more Wilshere stops and covers when Arteta goes forward because he is not afraid to tackle and win the ball. Every time Aaron made a challenge today he gave a way a free kick because he just doesn't have the pace to time those challenges.
