Cant multi-board but I have a theory why chants that are deemed to be "sick" and "insulting" will never end.
When one set of fans chant something vile, ill use "He's fat, he's round, he's 10 foot under ground, brain clough"- MIllwall example.(I am a DCFC fan myself). 2 thoughts run through people's minds.
This obviously varies between individualls
90%- Feel sorry for brain clough's family
10%- Cant help but think its a TINY BIT funny, hence the awkward smile
Even as a derby fan, this chant did make me think "Fair play it is a little bit funny, although harsh and insulting"
I obviously didnt say it out loud, but maybe SECRETLY, there are more people than we think who even though might not join in with "vile" chants, do find them slightly ammusing?
(even people who condem them on messageboards after them)
This is a theory, I do not mean to offend anyone. I actually want to have a debate on this, I have never joined in with any offensive chanting, (before people slay me with "YOU ARE A DISGRACE..ECT ECT ECT)
Sick sense of humour....

Derby County fan - I find it disgusting personally because no matter what it's still mocking someone who has died.
I was there when some sections of the Derby lot were chanting sick chants about Nottingham Forest chairman who passed away, Nigel Doughty and it's not on. Derby County swiftly made an apology and I know 2-3 fans got banned from the stadium.
A line needs to be drawn. On a side note, I find the 'Sheep Sha.ggers' chant hilarious!

mocking the dead is out of order but the chants you hear these days mainly such as "shall we sing a song for you" & "one nil & you still dont sing" are bobbins.
"your going home in a fuc&ing ambulance"

Football has a larger following of degenerates than any other sport i can think of. Chants like this or of a similar nature will continue forever imo. It's life i guess. I'm no saint when it comes to laughing at the odd sick joke like many here, but to enjoy chanting such things baffles me. It's a shame but not unexpected really. I'm glad i'm not one of them.

If those chants had been posted on Twitter, the poster would have been thrown in jail going by recent trends

Is ive said, Ive never chanted any of these, I was using as an example because I am a DCFC fan, and I didnt want to pick on any other club. IT WAS A THEORY. Any other theories?
Sick Sense of humour is an instinctive reaction, you either have it or you dont. You cant kill it out of people. If you find something harsh funny, you cant help it. S
I agree with the serbian ledgend, and that is part of my theory of why sick chants will never get erradicated, because some people keep it amongst themselves but dont get involved. Therefore, they are unlikely to self-police or report any distasteful chants at the time.

You are a disgrace......
To your school teacher. it's etc not ect.
And Brutus, you're still using the ' wrong.
I spotted that someone corrected you yesterday.
The apostrophe replaces the missing letter. In this case it's the letter o.
So instead of is not, it's isn't.
Not is'nt.
Sorry to sound like an Ernie Hunt but if you're going to the effort of using it and all that....

Yeah I find it funny sometimes, depending on the joke. But as people have said, it's ok down the pub, but amonst the general public it's just plain stupid.
A lad from near to where I live, namely Michael Woods, was sent to jail for repeatedly making jokes about that missing girl; the yellow ribbon girl.
He was saying things like he had her in his cupboard, and what he was going to do to her.
Needless to say the power of Facebook kicked in, his Mum's address was posted, and he had people banging on the door threatening him, etc.

Thats exactly why the chants wont die down, which even with my sense of humour, football should be about football, and I would happily give them up to end journalists and websites blowing small things out of proportion.
If you "sometimes" find "gutter humour funny", you are one of those people who wouldnt join in the chants to hurt anyone (because you do think about the public's interest as well), but you are unlikely to make a stance- to prevent it.
And another discussion- Would you rather have vile chants with a loud fiery atmosphere or a dull quite london derby (for example) with freindly/little chants?
