What If ...

we somehow find ourselves down 0-2 to the hammers on wednesday night with only five minutes left in the match.

Fergie brings on Giggs to replace Anderson , much to the the disappontment of the crowd.

Bang , Bang , Bang ... Giggs smashes in 3 goals for United and wins the match for us.

Just imagine the hypocrisy on this forum ... We'd all claim that we never doubted him for a second

More nonsense from Rob

Carrick has been hopeless this season, he's a great holding player but he can't get involved in the game and cover defensively at the same time because he lacks the pace or energy. He doesn't press the ball either (ideal for a holding player but not a an actual midfielder).

He is very lucky to still be in the starting line up and I hope he either steps up to a level i haven't seen him play at or he goes to the bench for better midfielders like Cleverley and Anderson.

At one point Anderson was used very effectively in a double holding axis with Hargreaves in his early days at the club. Anderson has definitely got the ability to defend, unlike Carrick he can actually press the ball and get back into position when attacks break down.

I have always backed Anderson's talent but the thing I have always doubted is his injury record.

I said at the start of last season he needed to prove he could play consistently and he was in the last chance saloon. Admittedly given the fact he has been relatively injury free this season I am happy to see what he can do as we approach the second half of the season.

Yup, the red side. We've always believed in Anderson. It's a shame SLM got banned. I wonder what he would think of Anderson now.

I've always said, the lad is the total package and just needs to stay fit.

......................................

So the heart yearns for Cleverly and Anderson.

The head feels Anderson and Fletcher is the sensible move.

But the typing fingers are big fans of the Fletcher and Carrick combo...

That's actually been one of our less successful midfield combinations.

The times that they've played together, their roles have been somewhat mixed up because you would have Fletcher attacking more than Anderson and Anderson sitting back and defending more than Fletcher which I always thought was odd.

They've just never really worked well together IMO.

Yeah in theory they should work really well, too.
