If he was a Simpsons character he would be: Captain Horatio McCallister – He is that guy who appears whenever they do an episode at sea and I think you all know why I chose this character for him!

Unfortunately Choice finished with the wooden spoon last tournament leaving many of his adoring fans gutted after his heroics in the tournament before that. However he is back and ready to kick some ass, which he will do to somebody in this group, but just not enough times and will result in another group-stage exit.

Bale

Team: Deportivo

Odds: 8 – 1

Previous Tournament performances: Quarter-finals

If he was a Simpsons character he would be: Disco Stu – Dancing his way through the group stage

A mighty fine tournament last time round saw Bale reach the quarter-finals on his debut when predicted to exit in the group stage and another strong performance awaits in this one I feel. Another place in the quarter-finals against easier opposition than Voom could see him make the semis, a very decent player.

FAB

Team: Granada

Odds: 11 – 1

If he was a Simpsons character he would be: Bumblebee man – Just can’t work this guy out!

A disastrous tournament last time round saw Fab score zero goals and pick up a solitary point, much more will be expected from him this time and I think he will put in a better showing, but not one that will see him get outta the group, but slowly progressing.

Verdict: Group-Stages

Comu

Team: Celta Vigo

Odds: 7 - 1

Previous tournament performances: Final, semi-final, quarter-final

If he was a Simpsons character he would be: Bart Simpson – will do any trick to get what he wants

Comu made it three out of three group qualifications last time out and I expect him to continue the trend in this tournament despite having a terrible team. Unfortunately for Comu he also has been knocked out three out of three times by SpursBoy, maybe if he can avoid him something might happen for him, but I predict a second consecutive quarter-final exit.

Batman

Team: Valencia

Odds: 10 – 1

If he was a Simpsons character he would be: Troy McClure – Always trying to sell something to fix that damn PS3

Unfortunately he had to pull out last time and he was given the strongest team in the MLS league, I reckon he could’ve at least got the quarter-finals with them. Having said this, that was an easier group, this is not and despite having Valencia I expect to see him exit from the tournament in the group stages, but will take at least a scalp.
