The ECB have announced today that Ashley Giles will take over the coaching role of the one day and t20 teams for England, allowing Flower to have a break away from the job during the tours overseas and the summer in England. Interesting choice.

From what i gather it's a full time post. He's a very very good young coach is Giles so i think in the long term it will be a great move. Eases him into the seat .

Interesting move, indeed. Test Cricket is always England's bread and butter and if easing Flowers workload will help him contribute more as head coach, then it only be a good thing.
It doesn't come without its risks mind on the face of things. With all the switched duties now in both the playing staff and coaching staff, bad runs of form as England have often been on in the Test arena since last Summer could raise questions about the use of different coaches and approaches.
In the main, we won't know how it will pan out but the selection seems a good one. Giles has ability, has in-depth knowledge of the England set up and will have worked with a few of the players before.

I like the idea. He's proven to be a quality coach at county standard and if he is next in line for the top England job, why not ease him in. we always have a cry of get young players some experience before they take over an experienced players spot, so why not with a coach. He's young and is in touch with the modern game and has some very good ideas.

Uncle Ashley will struggle, because he can't buy/poach the best players.
