Khan v Judah- A rational perspective

I'm surprised some journalists are proclaiming Khan as Britains best boxer after his fight with Judah. Yes it was a unification fight which looks great on the surface, that plus the name Zab Judah makes it look even better, but here is the reality.

Zab Judah is and was a spent force prior to this fight. He won the Ibf belt in a vacant belt against south africa's Kaizer Mabuza, a fighter who had 6 defeats going into this with only 1 noteworthy win against Kendall Holt.

Prior to that he won a controversial sd against Lucas Mathyssee(who has lost recently to Devon Alexander in similar circumstances) where he was knocked down in the 10th, but won the decision with a razor tight 114-113 on the scorecards by the judges.

Judah is not the same fighter, he's a good name for Khan to have on his resume like Barrera, but doesn't give him credence as the best fighter on British soil. He still has some way to go to get past Carl Froch, but could well get there.

I do like Khan, but obviously if he doesn't face Bradley next I'd like to see him face the winner of Maidana v Guerrro. Obviously the Maidana fight was a great one which deserves a rematch for the sheer entertainment value, I expect Guerro to win, who looked fantastic against Katsidis in his last fight.

But all being said I'm really starting to respect Khan who at the very least is now taking on fighters that can bang a bit, (Judah may not be the same but he can still punch and he did catch Khan)so kudos to him for that...

People dont give Khan the credit he deserves..he is yet to win over the British crowd..Under Freddy Roache he is looking a very good boxer tho..his speed is devasting..would love to see him against Mayweather is a year or so

Well was very one sided fight, great job by Khan, but need to agree with the OP, unless someone told you, you would not know the other guy was a world champion.

Very disappointed with Judah in the last round, i thought diving was saved just for football, seems he may have been watching a lot of Barcelona games last season. Why has no one has mentioned this very bad sportsmanship, so unless Judah has a medical condition in which his testicles are found above his belly button he should mention this to the medical authorities straight away!

If Froch fails to win the super 6 then Khan will be the best British boxer but for now Froch is rightly at the top. While I agree with OP that Judah is not the boxer he used to be he still got a big boxing lesson from Khan in all 5 rounds and could not answer to Khans speed, movement and combinations which was highly impressive. He also too a right hook to his chin and was not disturbed like in his early days so credit again the Roach and Ariza.

I Think even if Froch loses the super6 final he will still be the best British boxer. Kahn isnt doing a lot wrong at the moment as the article poster says he beat a big name in Zab but when Zab was on the decline as with Barerra. Ive always had a soft spot for Zab's style so was quite suprised when he didnt turn up. He was lucky to get the decision over Matthyse as was Alexander. (Much more so Zab) but Beat a Top 10 IBF ranked fighter to win the title albeit vacant. And as with Kahn you can only beat whats put in front of you.
Zab should just retire hes achieved plenty in boxing but now is time to give it up. Most people wouldnt of even come back from the Tszyu knockout so credit to him because he has changed his life around. If the body shot would of happened 5 years ago he would of lost his license through throwing a massive hissy fit. Remenicent of the Mayweather fight(In which Zab was winning the fight atter 5 rounds and that was against a peak Mayweather)
Congratulations to Amir though he won me over on Saturday and seing as Bradley isnt going to fight him he should just look at the Mcloskey Prescott winner as a tune up for the winner of Ghost and Maidana. If he wins those potential two fights then look to move up to 147 as top dog in 140s and look at facing the winner of Mayweather Pac(should it finally get made)

Im not a huge Khan fan in all honesty ...somewhere along the line he has rubbed himself up the wrong way with me , but in fairness hes doing well for himself.

Sure, his PR skills have been a disaster and he has somehow alienated himself with a lot of UK boxing fans and seems to have stuck two fingers up and run off to America.

I also think his camp have been very clever with the choice of opponents Amir has faced to get where he is today.

Zab Judah - way past his best and it showed.

Paul McCloskey - urmm who ?

Marcos Maidana - Khan only just past this test and Maidana was made to look average against a well past it Morales.

Paul Malignaggi - was never going to be a big threat due to no punching power.

Dmitriy Salita - hmm

Andriy Kotelnyk - actually a decent fighter but again seen better days.

Antonio Barrera - yet another fighter chosen at the right time.

Oisin Fagan - ohh please.

All these cleverly picked named and a few nobody fighters since the Prescott debacle.

And what next ??? ... Morales seems to fit the bill perfectly.

Im not sure these are the best preparation fights before he moves upto 147.

And anyone who thinks he will come even close to beating Mayweather is deluding themselves.

Just my 2c
