Liverpool earned a slender victory over Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
It should have been a much bigger win as the Reds created enough chances for it, but they could only find the one goal. But Liverpool did hit the woodwork on two occasions before they scored the goal.
The first incident came when Jonjo Shelvey struck a great effort from a tight angle on the right, and it rasped the inside of the far post and came back out.
As half time approached, Luis Suarez struck the crossbar from a free kick, but the ball found its way to Glen Johnson who crossed it in for Daniel Agger to head into the top right corner.
Southampton started to threaten in the opening stages of the second half, but Liverpool soon got back into it and searched for more goals themselves, but they could not find another way through.
Suarez was adjudged to have made a deliberate handball part way through the second ball, and he received his fifth domestic yellow card of the season meaning that he will miss Liverpool's next league fixture away to West Ham United.
The win lifts Liverpool to 11th place in the league, seven points from fourth spot.

Michu must be signing of the decade when considering the price he was purchased for.
As for us, first half was brilliant. Good stuff, and enrique doing well on the left.
Now lets see if we can win two league games on the trot. Fourth is still realistic as everyone is crap as each other barring the top 2

seeing as there is a lot of praise ( and rightly so) for Michu does anybody think we should try signing him as he would fit in well with BR's style of play?
