And Overrate Players Of Other Teams?
I was following the discussion about Cleverley. It seems people do not see him as someone who could reach the very top but just be an ok player. At worse, a squad player. But then I have seen comments such as Christian Eriksen or Kevin Strootman being the answer to our midfield problem. I also saw comments on Moussa Dembélé being the answer, too before he moved to Tottenham. Now, I know these are different sorts of players but most of us don't watch these players every week. I think most on here just go on about Strootman based on his reputation rather than how he actually is.
Let me put it out there, that we do need to streghten our midfield, at least in numbers (so Giggs and Scholes will not need to play there anymore). But the level that we underrate a talent like Cleverley shows that we have the grass is greener on the otherside syndrome. I do think, if Welbeck or Cleverley were playing at a foreign team and not being English, they might be held in higher esteem by fellow supporters as some of the names I've mentioned. It is down to what the media says and how often we see the players that make us base our decisions on. The media hype up players not just in the EPL but in other leagues too. Unless we are seeing players day in and day out, how will we know how they are like and if they would fit into our team.
Let's take a look at what Welbeck and Cleverley have achieved...they are International players, young in age, playing for one of the best teams in the world...
So why not appreciate what we have and acutally see that our players improve and be great assets to our team. I do think they will be first teamers in a season or two's time. Might be longer for Welbeck. I really do think that some of our players are underestimated more than they should be.
One more point - Anderson, half of the people on here wanted him out as he was either too injury prone or wasn't good enough. Now he seems to be the answer to our problems. This turnaround shows how fickle we, as fans are. I expect a similar turnaround about Cleverley and Welbeck some time in the future.
Why We Underrate Our Players...

Stretty, throughout my stay here and the old 606, I can count a handful of people I've abused and it's usually a response to their abuse.
I try to get on with everyone, even you but you are not interested.
