Why play a second string team??

And we're not going to win the CL, so now it's about getting back into it to keep the money going for the club I'm sure. The Premier League is more important.

I didn't mind us playing a second string team in principle, in fact I think it was probably the best thing to do given how the draw is shaping up, and to reduce first team injuries.

However I do object to Wenger insisting he was going to try and win the group and play a strong team - it misleads fans some of who would have paid a lot of money to make the trip to Greece thinking they'd get to see the first team, and instead seeing a mixture of flops, youngsters and players trying to play themselves into form, (with a couple of exceptions).

It would have been better to win the group but there's some tough draws even if we'd finished top.

With that in mind, Wenger opted to rest a couple of players who were desperately in need of one which hopefully will serve to stop our alarming decline in the pl.

He could have played the strongest team tonight, won the match, and still finished 2nd in the group. Also the team he put out tonight which really was a mix of squad members many of whom are in need of game time to get fit, could have easily won the game.

He weighed it up and made a sensible team selection.

We have a massive game next week in a competition we are 3 games from final. Why risk players ahead of that?

AW cannot win, if he played a full strength team and lost people would be on here saying, why did he do that! etc etc
